In answer to countless requests from I Love Lucy fans around the world, Bart Andrews has revised, updated, and expanded his classic book on TV's most beloved series.
Great book if you love Lucy....like I do! I've seen every episode of "I Love Lucy" and enjoyed reading the behind the scenes information and learning more about the lives of Lucy and Desi. It also includes a synopsis of each episode, so I will save the book for reference.
The definitive guide to one of the greatest sitcoms in television history. Includes a detailed episode guide complete with film dates, air dates, ratings and supporting cast information. A must for any fan of classic television.
As an avid "I Love Lucy" fan... I have read many books about the show.. and this book is by far one of the best (and my favorite)! Lots of information, including character sketches on each of (at least) the main actors/actresses... an absolutely *wonderful* episode guide (giving details and descriptions for each one - through the Lucy/Desi Comedy Hour episodes)... and so much more! If you want a great resource on everything "I Love Lucy" pick this book... you won't be sorry!
I am probably the biggest Lucy fan you'll ever meet. I own all the seasons and have watched them all at least eight times. EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. No joke. It's a book for the definitive fan aholic!!!! Whohooo!!!!
I had read this book because I'm a fan. I enjoyed reading this book because I learned more about one of my favorite shows. I loved the stories and photographs. I thought the book was well written. It is a must read.
I really wanted to enjoy this book more than I did. Some of my favorite things about this book was reading about each episode, I really felt like I was watching each one and found myself laughing along with them. I also really enjoyed just learning more about the show, the cast and how everything came to be for the series. I could of gone without a lot of the specifics and wish it flowed better as a storyline instead of what felt like a history book. Even though I was a bit bored in spots I’m very glad I pushed through and enjoyed the book as a whole.
The "I Love Lucy' Book is divided into two, hefty sections : 12 chapters devoted to the show’s history and a detailed episode guide called the I Love Lucy Log. When I started reading this book I didn't expect to pick up much new information because like many other I Love Lucy Fans, I have the series on DVD, seen specials about it, participated in online discussions and have read articles online. Boy, was I wrong! Even though this book is screaming for an update (the last chapter was written before Lucy starred on Life With Lucy and Desi and Lucy's deaths) it is packed with behind the scenes information that no real fan would want to be without. You get the scoop on the inner workings of the show from conception to end and particulars on the most memorable episodes. I found the prop information especially interesting. The episode guide gives lengthy descriptions of each I Love Lucy and Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour (referred to as the seventh, eighth and ninth seasons) made. Probably the best feature of The Lucy Log is the handy-dandy episode finder. It contains words and key phrases (for example: bass fiddle, Cuban Pete, Forever Ember, PTA Show) that allow you to locate the title and synopsis for any show. Pretty cool.
If you want to learn all about the greatest television show of all time-- "I Love Lucy," then this is the book to read. It provides short biographies of all the major players in the show and then provided a brief, but detailed, account of how "I Love Lucy" came to fruition. Finally, it provides a detailed synopsis and account of every episode of "I Love Lucy." Highly recommend.
My aunt Kathy bought me this book because she knows how much I love Lucy so I treasure it. I have to say that I wish that I could erase anything from my mind that shines even tiny bit of negative light on Lucille Ball or the show, true or not. This book is loaded with information and photos.
Great book about what went on during the filming of one of the best sitcoms ever. The personal stories of the four performers is amazing to read about and how they were professional when it came to the show and did quality acting. It's a great book!
So good! I thought I knew a lot about I Love Lucy, as I grew up watching it, but there were definitely stories in here I hadn't known. A very in-depth tale about the making of I Love Lucy then an episode guide.
It kind of read like a bad history book, it's made me a little hesitant to look for other biographies well at least written by people who weren't really there.
If you are a huge fan of the show and the cast then I would recommend this. As for a book to read just for the heck of it, no, I would not recommend it.
