A stellar example of the genius of artist Bernie Wrightson. No one is better at creating horrific atmospheres and emotional tableaux. When paired with the vivid imagination of writer Bruce Jones, the combination is magic. Illustrated in glorious black and white, this novella and three stories are a treat for the eyes. "Freak Show", the opening story, is 48 pages of sadness, hope and tragedy wrapped around a traveling sideshow, it's unusual exhibits, and it's benevolent but deeply disturbed ring- ...more

Classic so-so Bruse Jones story-telling, with classic very good Bernie Wrightson black and white art. The lettering is somewhat BIG on the page and takes up space that could be used showing us a bit more of the art. The art is some of Wrightson's best... not quite as good as his Frankenstein book, but much better than that other big book I recently purchased that was a Hellboy rip-off.

What I hadn't realized before purchasing this book, is taht I already have all these stories in different books.

I've typically enjoyed Bruce Jones' writing over the years, and this story doesn't change that. It's a somewhat predictable story, that would have fit perfectly within the pages of Creepy or Eerie.

But what makes this soar, is the absolutely gorgeous art by Bernie Wrightson. The art in here was from when Wrightson was at his peak, and stands on par with his work for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and DC's Swamp Thing.

A fun, creepy little read.

Derivative crap. The art by Berni Wrightson is nice, but the stories are for the most part EC-style but not EC-style quality twist ending trifles, poorly written and in some cases terribly derivative.

Es difícil hacer aún más terrorífica la historia de un carnaval de freaks, pero el dibujo de Wrightson es sublime y cada viñeta resulta más horrenda que la anterior. El final es buenísimo y todo lo rocambolesco de la historia es perfecta.
