The only thing we really liked about this book was the clear flippy page concept. The palette was super meh. With the boy/girl page we fix the glaring gender dichotomy indoctrination by saying hairbow/bowtie instead.

Patrick George's acetate books are works of art that children love—and for autistic kids, who often get more out of a multi-sensory experience, they are a kind of nirvana. His books feature transparencies that reveal surprises as you flip the pages. The graphic art is bold, colorful, and appealing, and the visual trickery is endlessly joyful and fun to share with others.

Simpel maar geslaagd in zijn opzet: met transparanten het verschil tussen tegengestelden weergeven, zonder franjes of overbodige afleiding. Geliefd bij onze 2,5-jarige!

In this book boys and girls are made opposites, but they are not opposites. For this reason I docked a star.

it's cool how the transparent sheets help to demonstrate the concept of opposites but this one didn't do it for me.

An illustrated, interactive introduction to opposites features transparent acetate pages that enable children to transform a boy's bow tie into a girl's hair bow, shift an arrow from left to right, and release an owl from its cage.

Some odd choices for pairs of opposites, but they technically work. Images on transparencies create the opposites on either side of two page spreads. My favorites included land/sea, boy/girl, and hot/cold.

I just love the magical way you go from one concept to its opposite in this story! I just wish the acetate pages weren't so hard to turn. I also find it's easier to start in the back and go towards the front, that way the acetate page starts on the left side page.

Excellent, concrete introduction to the sometimes difficult topic of opposites. Would be great for reading aloud as well as letting a child play with the clear overlay pages over and over to really drive home the concepts.

Cleverly put together book which describes opposites in pictures, see through pages and few words. Its unfortunate this is cataloged as nonfiction which limits its visibility.

this is a very creative board book of opposites for the older crowd...and my personal favorite was empty/full.

This was a fun book I shared with an outreach storytime classroom. It's a quick read but very interactive. The kids kept asking me to flip the pages back to see the "magic" again.
