Concise Dictionary of Christian Theology

Rate this book
The second edition of this theologian's companion seeks to bring the original dictionary up to date by supplementing it with pertinent ideas and persons from the past 15 years. The emphasis remains, though, upon the historical figures and movements of the first 19 centuries of the Christian era. The clear, succinct definitions of this must-have resource provide every student of theology--whether a beginner or seasoned learner--with the groundwork they'll need in their quest for understanding.

A very good dictionary. It is neat that many of the concise theological dictionaries written for evangelical publishing companies have been written by Baptists (Erickson, Grenz, Allison). Erickson really is concise in his descriptions of key theological terms, events, documents, and figures—often providing dictionary entries in a single sentence! These concise definitions, combined with the books length of 200+ pages means that Erickson can cover A LOT of terms in this volume. Along with Stanley Grenz and Malcolm Yarnell, Erickson ranks as one of the foremost Baptist theologians of the contemporary period. A highly recommended resource.

Millard Erickson is one of the foremost Theologians of our time and the definitions that are used in this book are reliable, accurate, and helpful. Learning theology can be like learning another language sometimes (because sometimes it actually is) and this book helps to better understand the terms theologians use with greater proficiency.
