This is one of the Nero Wolfe omnibuses. Some Buried Caesar and Too Many Women are novels. Before I Die, Help Wanted Male, and Instead of Evidence are novellas. The novellas take place during and very shortly after WWII. I'd forgotten that Archie was a major. Always a pleasure to visit the brownstone.

I've already read Some Buried Caesar; borrowed this for the other two contents.

So far the two longer works int his collection - Some Buried Cesar and Too Many Women bored me immediately, but the short stories are fun for people who enjoy mysteries. Definitely not transcendent, though.
