This best-selling book helps readers choose, change, or confirm career choices. It is firmly focused on today's career realities and the economy, encouraging change and growth for people of all ages, and from all backgrounds and circumstances. Every section is filled with positive yet practical discussions and real-life examples of resources and techniques. Following the standard sequence of career search and decision-making issues—Self-Assessment, the Job Market, Decision-Making, and the Job Search—this book emphasizes the importance of attitude in the process, showing readers how to weave individual concepts and techniques into personalized, doable, take-action plans. An excellent resource for anyone seeking employment, changing careers, or deciding upon career options; as well as job-placement professionals.
I use this book in the internship and career preparation course that I teach at the undergrad level. It's the best textbook of its kind that I've come across so far, but seems dated and some of the in-text exercises are very elementary. I'll keep searching for an alternative until I write my own, but for now, it's fine.
