This book seemed a bit out-dated to me. For instance, I read you are not supposed to feed parakeets grit and yet here it says to feed them grit. I did enjoy the factual information about parakeets. I am a recent parakeet owner and would recommend reading about them before getting one. This way you can learn how to bond with your bird and be prepared for taking care of them.

Although it covers an impressive range of topics (everything from safely bringing home a new bird to nutrition, first aid, and breeding tips) and the photographs are terrific, this is too slim a volume for in-depth discussion of any particular subject.
