Windows into the Infinite: A Guide to the Hindu Scriptures

Rate this book
A timely book to understand and put into perspective the vast corpus of the Hindu religious literature which a typical Western reader otherwise finds so daunting that he/she gets discouraged and simply gives up. Besides being of enormous value to the spiritural seekers, the book is ideally suited for study in a classroom environment. "...valuable primer on Hinduism...gives general readers access to the broad and varied scope of Hindu tradition..."--Publishers Weekly "...marvelous book... a useful introduction to the Hindu scriptures... highly recommended for any library..." --Library Journal "...good introductory text... excellent starting point for further study. The book includes an extensive glossary, a good introductory bibliography, and a detailed index, all of which enhance its value as a reference guide..." --ALA Booklist END

This is such a good synopsis for western readers. Every page makes me extremely happy. It provides just the right amount of detail on various parts of Hindu philosophy, culture, and mysticism while clarifying points that might cause confusion to non-Hindus. Love it!
