Jude Brigley
16 books39 followersJude Brigley was a Consultant in Learning and teaching. Her lifetime quest is to find ways to engage students with their learning and poetry, which has always been her passion.
Earlier in her career, she ran two performance poetry groups, Connect and Poetry Unlimited, which both worked in schools. She is also the editor of two poetry anthologies, The Poet's House (Pont, 1998) and Exchanges: Poems by Women in Wales (Honno, 1990), which were created with students in mind.
She believes that poetry should be at the heart of the English curriculum and that it can play an important role in everybody’s life. She has spoken on the subject at various places including N.A.T.E., the Library Association and various conferences. While being an experienced examiner, inset provider and research student, she still retains her enthusiasm for the classroom.

In January 2011 she was awarded a Doctorate for her work on Poetic Intelligence. Her thesis presents groundbreaking evidence to suggest that students can be trained in poetic thinking and that this can have a significant impact on the quality and outcomes of their learning. Her work will be published later in 2011
Since retiring, she has managed to do more writing and her chapbook 'Labours' was published. She is now widely published in magazines and anthologies. She writes both poetry and short-stories and has experimented with flash fiction.

I give my book five stars not for me but for all the delightful poems given to me by poets which made this a delightful project and for Fran's lovely illustrations.

A. The Poet’s House is a collection of lyrical poems by different authors. The poems are arranged into sections which each represent a room of the house.
B. The poem Bedwas Boys by Phillip Jackson uses rhyme to add to the humor of the story. It uses an AA rhyme scheme for the first 4 stanzas and the last 2 stanzas have an AB rhyme scheme.
C. Write a poem inspired by one of the poems in the book.
They held up a book
I said "book"
They said book.

November 24, 2015This story is a collection of many different poems all together. This story is about going on a treasure hunt throughout the house. The poems included traditional poems as well as new poems that have been written. I would read this to a class first grade and up.
