Book of Hours is about experiencing the Divine in terms of She/Her/Goddess. It is a joyful embracing of the feminine. It is an acknowledgment that we are created in Her image, and as such we share in the divine nature. The world shifts when we feel Her presence. She is both immanent and transcendent. She can be known in the cry of birds in the springtime; the full fruited trees of summer; autumn's dying breath; the winter's barren landscape. She is powerful and gentle; forgiving and forbidding. She is the gateway to life but with that gift comes the knowledge that we shall return to Her in death, only to be born again in another body, in another time. She weaves us into life and into death with determined and skillful fingers. She unfolds the cycles of our lives as we watch the unfolding of the cycle of the earth, of the seasons, of our very days. Bought this knowing it was Wiccan, which doesn't quite fit my beliefs but is fairly close. I was able to go through and change up wording for some of the prayers. I've found myself not missing a single prayer each day. There are also separate day spreads for all the major Wiccan holidays, the Full Moon and New Moon, as well as special events in the life, both happy and sad.

In the beginning of the book she said to change things up to your own liking, and I did. And I love it. I will probably write my own some day.

(I read it VERY quickly all the way through because I wanted to see it all. I couldn't wait until the dates to read how they were portrayed and celebrated) I'm very pleased with this book and how it's helped me reconnect spiritually several times throughout my day.

This book (and its companion, Prayers to the God) were some of the few books to survive my great Pagan book purge. While I have always relied on it for esbat and sabbat prayers, it does include some less specific devotionals as well. I feel like this is a wonderful addition to the library of any Neopagan goddess-worshipper.

Although I can't find Book of Hours: Prayers to the God in goodreads, I would also give that five stars.
