We have this entire series of books and they are by FAR the most read books on our shelves. Noble still reads them and I know he has read them 100 times or more!
I found this book at a library book sale and it was only after reading that I noticed the emblem showing it was from a Chick-Fil-A meal! Im very impressed this was being given out at a restaurant as its actually a very good book. It teaches quite abit about time, not just the sun rising and setting but where out calendar came from, how time has been told throughout history, how long people usually live, and a very descriptive section on how seasons are different at different places though out the world. A very scientific book that I recommend; younger children may need help reading as its not exactly for early readers, but the concept it teaches are quite important.
I found this book at a Goodwill and bought it to cut up and use the images for collaging. However, I did end up reading the whole thing.
It's not very good, with the explanations being oversimplified to the point of being useless, questionably correct, or both. Maybe the newer editions are better -- I'm certainly not motivated enough to try to find one to check. Honestly, I'm mostly surprised that there ARE new editions; I would have figured that this would have vanished into the vast sea of publishing detritus, to be forgotten by time.
Anyway, I'm going to go ahead and use this for collaging now. I wouldn't recommend using it for much else, should you happen to find a copy.

Review: When you look at a sunrise, do you wonder and ask why it's appearing at a certain time? Are you curious about why we have seasons? How can you tell time without a clock? This book is filled with questions and answers about sunlight, time and seasons. The author, Brenda Walpole, gives easy-to-understand explanations to describe what is happening and why. I recommend to this book to anyone who wants to learn more the science of sunlight, time, and seasons. But be warned, you'll be left with more questions! You'll be ready to start your own search for other scientific explanations about what you see happening all around you.
This book is very informational, it talks about the sun and the moon, night and day, time, seasons, and the earth. It has many colorful pictures and fun facts throughout it. It explains, in simple terms, how the earth rotates around the sun and how that affects time, day and night, and the seasons. I enjoyed reading this book to my son, it helped me explain why the it's sunny during the day and dark at night. Even though he doesn't completly understand how it all works it is a great tool to refer to when he asks these types of questions.
