I first bought this cookbook the year it was publishes (1977) and it has been one I have turned to often, especially for his soups! Joe Carcione used to be on TV at noon and on the evening every day - he truly was known as the Green Grocer! I lost my copy and found it on Amazon - hard to believe and I am thrilled to have a copy! I would recommend it to everyone!

This is a book I return to again and again when I have fresh produce to deal with. The recipes are arranged seasonally as crops ripen. From soups to desserts, you're sure to find new ways to use your apple crop or those extra tomatoes and summer squashes, as well as the more unusual items such as persimmons, asparagus, artichokes, and pomegranates. This is a great book to have if you buy from local farmers markets. But don't look for anything too exotic here. You won't find kiwi, sugar snap peas, or most Oriental vegetables here, you will find what people are most likely to grow in their gardens or orchards.
