Der Band ...more

The most approachable Brecht writing I have seen.

One interesting fact about Brecht is that as a leftist he had no regard for private property, including intellectual property. He regarded all creative writing as being in the public domain, i.e., collective property.

These stories are mostly morality tales, characteristic of Brecht. The first one is a modern adaptation of the old solomon tale of the two women competing for guardianship of a baby.

Another story treats the journey of Francis Bacon

This short story and poem collection has a few pearls to brag at very least. (My favorite- "Wounded Socrates".) Notable: it often features historiographic metafiction, irony etc.

Bertolt Brecht (born Eugen Berthold Friedrich Brecht) was a German poet, playwright, and theatre director. A seminal theatre practitioner of the twentieth century, Brecht made equally significant contributions to dramaturgy and theatrical production, the latter particularly through the seismic impact of the tours undertaken by the Berliner Ensemble—the post-war theatre company operated by Brecht ...more
