I love all PCT books, but not this one. It often felt like someone was speed reading me through a topo map. There was none of the storytelling, trail camaraderie, or trail magic. Guessing it’s more appropriate for long long distance runners instead of hikers. I thought it would still be enjoyable to get another perspective, but I was wrong.
This is the story of the first ultra-runner to run the entire Pacific Crest Trail. Written by a true optimist and believer in hard work. Bob Holtel has run countless ultra-marathons and coached high shcool runners his whole life. He was even kind enough to give Jenny and I a copy of his signed book in Ashland, Oregon during our thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail.
