Coming into this book I really only thought it was about this assassin girl and had no idea about the supernatural aspect of the book which caught me off guard in a good way. The book is told through Kala's POV and then at the same time what Chris felt or thought when he saw her. He also was in The Pastures where I thought was like heaven but I was oh so wrong. It's an after-life but not a very good one. So he talks about his POV there too.

I put this book off a week because I was home alone with a baby and the last thing I wanted was to get freaked out. (Or more freaked out. Ahem.)

Turns out The Sheol was not as scary as I was afraid it might be.

I enjoyed the book, and it was very well written and original.
But I didn't connect with it the way I thought I might.
A lot of that I think comes from feeling like I never really got to know the characters.

We have a vague story of how Karla became part of the company or at least what she has

The Sheol is an interesting story that presents some original characters and quite a different plot. With some highs and lows is a fast read that may be interesting for paranormal lovers.

Kala has lived her life being a killer for a company that has raised her after being abandoned by her parents. After being in conflict between whom she is and what does for living, we found her trying to escape her past. (At first I wasn't sure about her age but luckily that fact was clarified at some point of t

A unique and original story that took me on an un-predictable journey as the story keeps you guessing all the way to the end. I loved the contrasts between the two main characters and interpretations of events from their points of view and the contrast added richness to the events. The story creates a new worlds, characters and conflicts I have not seen before. I wanted to read on after the end of the book and looking forward to finding out how the story continues on after such a surprising endi ...more

This was such a good book! The story line was well thought and intriguing! The Sheol had a good pace through out the book and it was kind of hard to put it down. It was so exiting and you wanted to know what would happen next. This is not your typical ghost-hunts-his-girlfriend-story! It does have a twist and I love that! I also love the ending! I did not expect that to happen! So if you read this one be prepared to be surprised! I sure was!

Kala is also a really interesting character. She is brou
That blurb sounds interesting, doesn’t it? I thought so. I’m sad to say that this book disappointed me, though.

It starts off strong, throwing the reader right into the midst of the story by showing us Kala killing her fiance and the circumstances in which it happened. Speaking of the MC, apart from a couple of instances, I really liked her. She was ruthless and unapologetic, especially when it came to surviving, which I found to be a fresh and believable perspective. What I didn’t find believabl

The Sheol (The Wanderer Trilogy #1) surprised me! I didn't really know what to expect, even though it sounded really entertaining! The Sheol is about this girl Kala who has been trained to murder people and brought up this way by the Company since she was four. She is so deep into this, that she even kills her fiancé, who she never thought she'd see again. It turns out, by some weird supernatural power, he's back!

I thought the idea was original, and like nothing that I've read in a book! I liked

Kala and Chris - alternate narrators of this story are ex-fiancées - Kala works for 'The Company', often as an assassin, other times just as a medium of evil; and Chris is dead.
If I had purchased this book, rather than it being a gift from the author, I may have given up on the story after the first few chapters as there were several 'WTF?' moments and I felt very disconnected from the characters and events.
However, continuing to read became a stimulating and emotional experience and I stayed up

The Sheol is a non-stop action, bullet a minute thriller. The mystery unfolds with eerie undertones of the different shades of death. It was difficult at first for me to follow the almost abrupt style, but it fit well with Kala's militant trained thought process. The Sheol is cold and has its heart wrenching moments and there are even almost poetic moments that show Hoddell's potential. With some editing, I feel this novel could evolve into something just as dangerous as the undead watchers in t ...more
