This book is apparently a "best seller" and it does a good job of explaining nutrition, food and the rationale for a low-carb diet. It is also packed with recipes for their 30-day "solution". So in this sense, it is self-contained.

I don’t believe that anyone would be harmed by following their 30-day diet, but of course "check with your doctor first". I found some of their claims a little far-fetched, that's because they are selling a book. For example, "eating a potato is the metabolic equivalent of eating a quarter of a cup of sugar". That's nonsensical and crafted to suit their own ends.

There are useful quizzes and plenty of insight which can help you assess how your current diet is serving you.

I confess that I didn't read this through, cover to cover. I did like it in that the first few chapters covered the low carb concept AND how the diet worked. They really condenses a lot of information, which made it an easy ready. Then the rest of the book was information you need to do the diet and recipes and stuff. I skimmed this book, but ended up going with the Atkin's Diet instead.

Just another book of interest in my quest to try to address some of my health problems with diet. I've seen low-carb work for friends. Not sure if I have the will 'power' to do it.
