When Conona forces you to stay indoors, travel with your mind.
This book helped me do this. It helped to also find out about amazing and beautiful places I’ve never heard about before. I was amazed by the multitude of green places there are in Africa, the beautiful beaches from Australia and the history of Asia.
Each place has a few historical details and some tips about what you should visit there.
It took me a while to read it, because I wanted to enjoy each place. I didn’t want to rush it. Ea

This book is simply incredible! It's got a great design, fantastic layout, wonderful images and most adequate text descriptions.
The only thing I would add is a map, which indicates where exactly these 501 destinations are located and also include a few more places to the book. For example, Romania is packed with incredible hidden gems and it’s unfortunate that only the city of Sighisoara makes the cut. All in all, the 501 Must Visit Destinations is most definitely worth its price and value. A b

Shame there are NO MAPS at all in this travel book - how can you write a travel guide without maps????
Also sooooo many mistakes in the text - both typing and factual mistakes :(
However, it did give details of some lovely places I'd not heard of before :)
I've already been to 47 out of the 501 ... still a few left to visit then!!!!

Somewhere between coffee table book and encyclopedia, this actually isn't a bad book for reference. Definitely wouldn't recommend it as a comprehensive guidebook for any region though, more so a way to identify important/ popular areas and gather a little knowledge to build on. ...more

The book is organized by continents and further more by countries. The pages are color coded which helps when looking for a specific location. There is a brief overview about each item and a picture included. Some of the most common questions, like Where is it? or How do I get there? or When is the best time to travel is highlighted in the margin. I'm surprised at some of the locations mentioned in the book, certainly not mainstream. I have never heard of some of the places described and on the ...more

I am a travel junkie and this book was quite entertaining for me, though I felt it was a bit too "clean". I don`t know the ages of the authors, but I was hoping for something a little more - wild. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it, as it proved to be very informative, thorough (perhaps even too much) and covered many countries. The text was always accompanied with a beautiful picture. All in all, this book was a beautiful way to spend time and, if you`re anything like me, pick places you want to travel ...more

as far as pictures went, i think some destinations deserved a little better quality, but it definitely was a nice read / leaf-through (i think i've read half of it) as it provided interesting and practical information and finally left me with quite an update on my bucket list (and it already was sooo long! :)) ...more

it was a present from one friend who knows i really do like travel. i guess authors tried to be as comprehensive as possible, but selecting 501 places out of many many beautiful places would be really subjective decision :P anyway, good starting point for those who want to see the so-called must see world ;)

Fun to flip thru, but the details regarding many locations leave something to be desired.
