Not to be mistaken for Crappy Wisdom, this is an instructional book for catching the small but frisky panfish known as the crappie. This is the first fish I ever caught, on the docks at Clinton Marina with my Uncle Mike. I was just finishing up an essay on him last year so I thought I'd read this to spark the ol' creative juices. But I'm also fishing more again these days, so I went back to the book to glean the wisdom contained therein.

The book itself was written in the late '80s and doesn't seem to have been updated since then; lord knows the pictures haven't. Or maybe these fishermen just haven't changed their clothes since then - perhaps that's what makes them part of the "In-Fisherman" crowd. Anyway, the information on locating crappies (the most important and difficult part of crappie fishing) is sound, reinforcing what I already knew while giving me some new insights into deep-water crappies for the days in the future when maybe I'll have a boat.

Crappie wisdom is an interesting book. It gives some techniques on how to fish a weed line. Occasionally it talks about the difference between two kinds of crappies. Also it talks about the understanding of a crappie. Then it talks the kinds of shaded water. The setting takes place in Lakes Rivers and streams. They give more advice; witch jig is good for that season. The theme is about lakes rivers and streams in all four seasons. I recommend this book if you want to learn how to get the crappies attention and want to understand them.

Most of these NAFC books are great for beginners and add less as you've become more skilled. If you target a new species, get their book it will set you up with the gear, and tactics you'll need. If you only catch crappie during the spawn, this will help catch all year round.
