Such a powerful, poetic and honest piece of writing about one woman's journey to deal with the grief of losing a sister in the most harrowing way. I could not put this heart stirring book down.

Some books are like Christmas; they give readers gifts personalized to their needs. I took many gifts away from my reading of If You Sit Very Still, Marian Partington’s intense and relentless testimony detailing how she found a kind of peace that encompassed forgiving the serial killers who murdered her beloved sister Lucy.

I have done some training with Marian which inspired me to read her book. Her voice is totally authentic in the book. It's an incredibly powerful read, but it's also intensely personal. I think in the last few pages I got a fleeting sense of the incredible state of being she spends the book aiming to achieve - but for a lot of the book, it felt a little voyeuristic. A very warm and well written book. Poetic and sensitive with great depth and insight to the human soul. Kindred spirits sharing loss and grief over a loved one, challenged to reflect on one's own life and meaning. Grace, the Author of love in the bigger picture, comprehension, empathy and forgiveness are but a few areas to tackle, work through and come to a place of peace.
An inspiring and artistic read indeed.
