Really interesting, fun and inspiring read, but I wish it had featured more women of colour and queer ladies. Frida Kahlo is featured, but her sexuality isn't mentioned. Maybe there are more queer artists featured in this, but at some point I got too tired to google every artist to see if she might be queer since until I quit none of them were (or at least it wasn't known if they were) ...more

Loved the stories of some of these pieces. Makes me want to further look at some of these women’s art in person!

Danger! Women Artists at Work, by Debra Mancoff, celebrates the work of female artists in an era when patrons were slow to show full respect for their work. Although the business of art has long been a male-dominated industry, great art needn’t suffer a gender divide. There are fabulous woman artists, and this full-color, hardcover book shows them at their finest, with the art and artist portrayed side-by-side.
