About the author

Jean Lorrah is a science fiction and fantasy author. She has produced several Star Trek novels and often collaborated with Jacqueline Lichtenberg. Her most recent work with Lichtenberg is on the Sime - Gen Universe. Her fantasy series The Savage Empire, from the 1980s, is mostly solo work. She is also a professor of English at Murray State University and received her PhD from Florida State University.

This is pure genre schlock. It passed the time in a moderately pleasant manner, but that was about it. The exposition neatly summed up the first book (which I had not read and now have no need to read). What passes for conflict between the protagonist and his leading lady , rulers of neighboring lands, randomly disappears and reappears as the plot rushes to a resolution. I might keep this only because it's signed by the author.

Very good 2nd book in the series. Nice building on the first books plot line. Good SiFi/fantasy read. Recommended
