Born in 1960 and raised on an overdose of television, NASA, and science fiction, Ryk Brown has worked as a cook, rock guitarist, stage lighting technician, and paramedic. He currently resides in Northern California with his wife, daughter, and cat. By day he fixes computers, and by night he creates stories.
Having spent his entire life "thinking stuff up", the advent of digital publishing has finally given him an excuse to write it all down and share it with others. ("Others" meaning someone other than his poor wife and daughter.)
A long-time fan of all things science and space, his goal is to write and publish an on-going series of sci-fi adventures. To be set in his own version of humanity's future, his characters will explore the vast reaches of the galaxy, and perhaps even the universe. He invites you all to join him on this journey through his vivid imagination.

I think this book is primarily a set up for the next book. We are introduced to some new weapons and some old friends show up to help. I have followed Ryk Brown’s series from the beginning. The characters seem real and have a way of captivating me. I feel as if they are old friends that I drop in for a catch-up visit. The story is fast moving with lots of twists and turns. My biggest problem with Ryk Brown’s books is I just cannot put them down.

I read this as an audiobook downloaded from Audible. The book is six hours and thirty-seven minutes. Jeffrey Kafer does and excellent job narrating the story.

In "Evolution," the sixth in the Frontiers Saga Part 3, author Ryk Brown takes a bit of a detour. He and his fellow captains successfully purloined a couple of massive jump gates that make transportation to their base on the newly settled planet of Libertara possible. It was a big job with a very little chance of success. Of course, the Aurora's captain, Nathan Scott, pulled it off with his legendary good luck. In this installment, the expanding group surrounding the Aurora must come up with a plan to deal with the increasing threats and try to develop their new assets into something more than boat anchors. The new ships need retrofitting, people need purpose and the fringe worlds still need protection. In the meantime, the Alliance has unleashed the private army that targets any threat to its governance. And Nathan Scott is enemy No. 1. Still, Brown throws in a variable that the Aurora stumbles upon almost by accident. The new threat comes not from another group out to kill him and those he serves with but from a mystery found on a random spacecraft in need of assistance. Plus, Brown throws in some pretty interesting developments.

Wow!!!!! Sooooo good!!!!!😲😁

I absolutely love this series! I wait (impatiently lol) for each book to be written and released and it is always a long span of frustration, excitement and intrigue anticipating what may be coming next in the storyline. Its a gut-wrenching wait because the story is so good. The characters have literally become living breathing people that I see in my brain as I'm reading. The scenes set and every detail covered so the reader feels like a part of the story. Its the coolest thing when an author is this good at writing, placing action in a calculated way so it flows, makes sense and is so ooo flipping entertaining. This episode is one of his really good ones! You'll love it. It had been awhile so I went back and read episode 5 and then went right into this story. If your waiting span has been since 5 was released then I highly suggest the re-read. It only makes it better! Such great surprises; makes me smile. You're going to LOVE it!!👍👍❤❤❤❤

eP 3.6, the gangs all here.

I liked everything about the story so far the series was missing so much, but the author has corrected those flaws by bringing the gang all together again. Without giving spoilers away, we know what was missing. That situation has been corrected. Plenty of action, great character development I probably will now read the rest of the series. Very good. No excellent read it.

still a good read, just getting a littl “out there”

Nathan has now come upon an advanced AI, “surprise”. A surprising ally shows up to help. The Free Alliance now has possession of the 3 sister ships to Aurora. Celestial,Navarro, and Scott. Will they just leave the Galaxy and let mankind deal with the Alliance that Natan died to help create or will they stay and fight. My guess is, you’ll have to start the series 35 books back and find out.

Great addition same as all the rest!

No rest for the weary as Captain Scott is up to his eyeballs in trouble once again. I just wish there was a bit more down time and less action in these books in order to better appreciate the story and the characters. Well done once again Mr. Brown.

Great read....

Well the gang is all back together again. Even Telles is back! Over the course of the series I have fallen in love with all of the main characters in these books. All of the books are non stop action. Even just finishing this book I'm already looking forward to the next 1 in the series.

Great Direction with the Story

Ryk pulled a surprise on me by taking the story into an unexpected direction and bringing back some of my favorite characters in a way I didn't see coming. Although this was a short length book in the series, it is one of the most action packed book yet.
To avoid spoilers, I'll leave it at that.
Hurry up with sequel Ryk!!!

If you like non-stop action....

I must say this book was one of the most exciting books I've read in a long time. I could barely set it down. Since finishing it, all I want to do is read the next one. The wait is a while but each book in this series has been excellent. Highly recommend this book.

Epic saga continues

Ryk Brown continues to cause me sleepless nights. He writes battle scenes better than anyone and once it starts it is hard to put the book down. The editing in this one wasn't as good as usual, several typos, but this didn't bother me. I didn' think anything could be scarier than the bio digital plague but now there is.

wow! This just gets better and better….

I’ve been reading this series from the start and as my headline says, it just get better with each new book. The characters are excellently written and you get totally immersed in them. The fast paced action and battle scenes are awe inspiring and the humour thrown in amongst the tension is great.
Can’t wait for the next one.

My favorite sci-fi series delivers again

Ryk Brown's characters - Nathan, Jessica, Vlad and the rest - are richly developed and continue to make you care about these stories. The ongoing Saga is "rebooted" in Evolution and introduces a new threat to humanity that promises more great story telling. Looking forward to the next installment!

short

I would eagerly await the next phase of aurora’s adventures in anticipation of a tome worthy of long nights and workdays with the promise of quiet hours spent enjoying the saga. Instead a brief . . . Outline of . . . ?
Still a fan - and still waiting for the saga to continue.

Rescue from the past

The Alliance has attacked the cargo ship that the Aurora had rescued. A suspended animation chamber containing a woman is found on board. Before Nathan and co. can evacuate the ship they are attacked by the Alliance.
During the battle unexpectedly help arrives from the past. A must read novel! Hard to put down once you start it.

And another reappears

Cannot say I was surprised with the surprise, I had been expecting it for a couple of books, but it is good to see them back
Has similarities to the Matrix, but at least the bad guys are still human.
Things do appear to be getting more complex, so will be interesting to see how the next few books evolve

A little slow at first then got much better

I was worried that the author had lost his touch at first. Jerky dialog, too many story line but then about a third of the way through it he got his moxy back and the story flowed like they normally do. A great book in the end

Couldn't stop reading

This book was a non-stop thrill ride of space battle. With a smattering of down and dirty hand to hand brutality. The storyline wasn't progressed very far but a lot of information was revealed, that made more questions than gave answers.

This series finally makes sense! Wow!

Ryk Brown is one of my favorite authors but this series has been difficult for me. Finally at the end we understand the purpose. Now it makes sense and I can't wait for the next book! Highly recommend.

Insanely good

Nathan and the team always hold me attention in to the early hours of the morning. Many a sleep deprived night reading The Frontiers Saga. But, did not see this coming. The Return of General Telles. Amazing work, keep it up. Can't wait until the next installment.

Getting bigger

This series is really the embodiment of the term "mission creep" where a limited mandate mission could snowball into a mission to save all humanity. But again, it's Nathan Scott, what do you expect... 😁

Awsome

I've read the series since the start. Probably the best sci fi series right up there with Asimov and Heinlein with character development. Really hard to put down, read it in 24 hours

Excellent!

Ryk gave me a good read. I had expected Telles and his team to have survived and become Nathan's gloved fist once more, but their tranistion back into the story line was very smooth and welcome.
