I was looking on the internet for images of the Book of Kells because I am immersing myself in the work in the hopes to influence my own work. I don't know why I didn't think of a coloring book, but it showed up on the images. I picked from Amazon. This was the best from the "look inside" feature. The other books I looked at were so complex it would have been hard to get the pencil into the design. This one is complex enough to learn the designs and letters. It is written for kids at about a fourth grade reading level. I think their intent for featuring pictures of the monks is to heighten the kid appeal. I don't know how successful this is. There is an advertisement for the movie of Secret of the Kells. I'm guessing this is the intended audience for the book. For my purposes it is perfect and I don't know some of the facts they present!
