"Once again, Phil Schlechty demonstrates why I consider him to be one of the clearest minds in American education. This book was required reading for a class I just finished. It's not the most interesting book but it did have some good points throughout. The point is that education will not improve unless some changes are made. The author attempted to make some suggestions for change. However, some things will never change unless more educators and parents become more vocal.

I recommend this book for educational research.

The best part of this book is how well he breaks down what engaged learning is...and is not. His suggestions for how to ensure teaching is engaging to students is right on target! If you're looking to improve student engagement in your classroom, this book forces honest reflection and new thinking about teaching.
