Received in exchange for a honest review.

The romance in this book will take your breath away. It is so beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time. The writing is amazing. The story is character driven and is centered around Jamie.

Jamie is a college student with a great imagination. He feels misunderstood by his parents even though he loves them dearly and is really proud of his dad. He is kind and sweet but also has a great sense of humor. Suddenly his world changes when he starts having

As interest in the Titanic peaks this year - the centennial of the ship's sinking - I've been reading (or rereading) a lot of books on the Titanic, as well as watching numerous Titanic movies and documentaries. Like many people, I'm fascinated by the Titanic, so when author Michael Bowler asked me to review his book "A Matter of Time," I was happy to do so.

"A Matter of Time" was an impressive novel, mingling two of my favorite subjects: the Titanic and time travel. Jamie Collins was a typical co

Love is timeless, time is heartless, and fate is unmerciful, so begins A MATTER OF TIME, which is an emotionally charged voyage into the value of friendship, the power of love, the impact of evil, and the vagaries of fate. Inspired by the Titanic, the book which comes out in the centennial year of the Titanic tragedy is a timely and refreshing read.

A MATTER OF TIME tells the story of James Collins, a student Santa Clara University, who has developed a strange disease that transported him back in

It took me a little while to lose myself in this story. The novel started slowly but built up to some gripping scenes as the climax of the story neared. When I began reading the novel, I wasn’t always convinced by the conversations between the college students. Some scenes didn’t feel authentic. But the interaction between the characters felt much more real later in the book, especially as Jamie encountered people from the past then returned to his own era.
The premise for the story, that time

Time travel, the Titanic and vampires ... sounds like a wacky combination, doesn't it? You get all three with this book and you know what? It worked ... I enjoyed this it. Be prepared to leave your sense of belief at the door when you read it, though.

I like books about time travel. I find it fascinating when people go back to the past or come forward to the future and perhaps change the course of events (like when Dr. McCoy saves the woman from getting killed on "Star Trek" ... that change in e

The deceptively bland title of Michael Bowler's A MATTER OF TIME hides an explosively entertaining novel.

College student Jamie Collins suffers night visions of a monstrous being ravaging the guests on the Titanic. He comes to believe that he must travel back in time, on board the great ship, to destroy this monster. And while he's there, he faces a moral dilemma: should he prevent the iceberg collision that sank the Titanic, and risk changing the course of human history? Or allow the tragic loss

This a great story about a college student who goes back in time to prevent the Titantic from hitting an iceberg and sinking. The story has high drama, lots of romance, unrequited love, lasting friendships and vampires!

James Collins, a Santa Clara University student, has a strange illness that takes him back in time to the days prior to the Titantic sinking. During the daytime he becomes sensitive to light and has to wear dark clothes, a large hat and sunglasses to protect himself. He tells his

A very different book from what I usually read, but with this being the 100th year of the sinking of the Titanic it peeked my interest. This book has it all with time travel, history, romance, and vampires?? The vampire part kind of grossed me out!
What starts out as an ordinary year in his college life for Jamie Collins, surely doesn't end that way. He develops a very strange and scary illness...basically he can't stand sun light.
This book does become a page turner...you have to find out what is

Michael Bowler has a real gift with words and the ability to draw the liquid from ones eyes. While my eyes were not as leaking through the majority of this work he did manage to get them flowing pretty good at the end of the book.

This was also the first book of his that I've read that did not have any obvious gay characters; though I kept holding out hope for a couple of the. :)

This book is an excellent telling of the Titanic tail with several interesting twists, and is definitely well worth the

Destiny has a way of finding us James, whether we're ready for it or not

The year is 1986 and Jamie Collins is a Junior at Santa Clara University. A good student and a gifted writer, but when Jamie's health begins to show some peculiarities and he begins having mysterious dreams about vampires and a certain passenger liner no-one quite knows what's happening or what to do. This is basically a Titanic story with a vampire and some time travel. For me, it was a very slow start. Set in 1980s California at the beginning, there is lots of college angst and it doesn’t take much angst to wear me out. Jamie is worried about his looks, do the girls like him, do the guys want to be his friend, is he worthy in his chosen field of study, etc. Of course, some of the other students have some of the same angst. Maggie, one of 2 female characters that have names and lines for the ...more

Full disclosure, I was provided with a copy of this book by the author, however, I have voluntarily chosen to write a review. All opinions are my own.

A Time Travel adventure for the ages

A Matter of Time, by Michael J. Bowler, is a time travel mystery with a dash of romance that is all good. Set in the mid-eighties shortly after Titanic has just recently been discovered by Dr Robert Ballard, Jamie starts having disturbing dreams. The further the dreams progress, the more he is convinced that some

I AM FEELING ALL THE FEELS. I know I will love this book the second I know that Jamie Collins is identified as a nerdy bookworm, has no girlfriend (I thought he was gay, sorry Jamie) with cool friends. The writing is articulately written and spoken, I giggled all the time every time the captain's voice comes in. The sailor accent, rough as waves sounds so real I actually cannot imagine reading this book.

The romance is so heartbreaking how dare you. I thought I was no romantic, but hell I freaking

A truly creative and unique storyline that not only features vampires on the titanic but time travel as well. The pace of the book starts off slow but when the main character, Jamie, discovers the reason behind his nightmares, the pace rapidly speeds up.
Pros: The characters are not only relatable but memorable as well. I enjoyed the authors reference to the 80s pop culture throughout the book. The author's reference to Bram Stocker's Dracula was highly amusing. The story is truly unique, and ori

I received this as a free audiobook and I was really excited to give it a listen considering there was talk of time travel, the titanic AND vampires! Sadly, it did NOT live up to my expectations. I really hate giving a low star review to any author because I know how much time and love is put into writing a novel, but no matter how hard I tried, I could not get into it. I struggled through 5 chapters and then I just could not take any more. Since I did not finish this read, im giving it 2 stars ...more

It is 1986 and Jamie is a junior at Santa Clara University. He wakes up from a dream where in it he is attacked. Shortly thereafter he starts being lethargic during the day, the sunlight burns him, and then feels super strong at night. A Matter of Time by Michael J. Bowler is a new novel that will grab you. Mystery and history are intertwined in a work that gets into your head and heart. Jamie is a writer with a gift of retrocognition. Jamie dreams he’s a radio operator on the Titanic. His dreams are real. Besides being on the Titanic, Jamie’s blood or rather Jack’s,( who is Jamie on the Titanic) is being sucked out by a vampire. Without the vampire, Jamie would just have shoved his dreams to the back of his mind. However, whe

A Matter of Time is about a college student, Jamie, who can do something that no one else can. Travel back in time. More specifically to the time where the Titanic has been set off to sea. Jamie learns that there is a specific reason why he has been brought back to 1912 when the Titanic is launched. To prevent the ship from sinking. With the help of friends and fate, Jamie will make history.

A Matter of Time is amazing! Am I surprised that it was? No of course not, it's a Michael J. Bowler book.

Dreams of the Titanic and its unfortunate sinking plague Jamie Collins at every turn. Though he does his best to understand what is lurking deep within his psyche, his mind often refuses to make sense of what he sees. Determined to get to the bottom of things, he dives head-first into the secrets of his past, never once realizing that he's tied to the Titanic in more ways than one.

A delightful, yet thrilling read, Michael J. Bowler delivers a story that leaves the reader immersed in the book fro

My favorite line in the book is the opening lines,
“Love is timeless, Time is heartless, and Fate is unmerciful . . .
At last a first line, but now what to do with it? He’d struggled and
fought and finally sweated out the perfect line to start his novel and now
that he’d found it, he didn’t have close to an appropriate story to do it
justice. Too bad. He liked that line. Oh, well . . . file it away for future
reference.”

What a great opening line. It shows up again also, but I love it at the beginnin

Wow. A Matter of Time was a wild literary ride! Michael J. Bowler has weaved an intense plot that had me wondering what was real and what was Jamie's imagination. While those who care for Jamie question his story of being on the Titanic in 1912, despite the fact that it is 1986, they support his quest to save the great ship and the many passengers who perished.

The author included an immense amount of details in the story, taking me back to that period, to the characters and that horrific night.
