I was given this book by a neighbor. It was copy written in 1999, so very outdate. Especially missing was the current threats endured by teens in social media. That said, the content and supporting arguments about giving teens love, guidance, rules, etc etc remain relevant and so needed. I’m sure Meg Meeker has a more current publication, so go read that one. She’s a wise and empowering doctor and I recommend her highly.

Dr. Meeker is a pediatrician in a small town who gets into all the issues of teenagers from eating disorders, to early sex, to low self-esteem, etc. She approaches her recommendations with a firm understanding of family system theory, love of teenagers, and belief that good families don't just happen.

I highly recommend this book for teachers, pastors, and parents.
