A great account of adventure as Arved Fuchs and his team followed in the Wake of Shackleton by reenacting his trip from Elephant Island to the Stromness Whaling station on South Georgia Island. The book was full of facts about the original journey by Shackleton and showed how amazing that trip was with the resources they had.

Fuchs led a well prepared team and shared stories about the preparations and technology that they used. I had the opportunity to hear Arved Fuchs talk while in Germany in 2004. He presented a great program on preparedness at a corporate event I attended.

Excellence adventure story of a small team of explorers that re-enacted Shackleton's trip in a 22 foot lifeboat from Elephant Island to South Georgia, followed by an overland trek to reach the Stromness Whaling Station, to get support to rescue the rest of his crew near death on Elephant Island. Miserable conditions, but this team shows a love of Antarctica, well planned adventure, and a desire to understand Shackleton's plight to save his crew.
