I mean, for what it is - a book that searches to reconstruct the life of a 17th century farmer through his will and estate inventory - it's fine. But it's not even close to a good read. I don't fault the author because she did a great job using numbers and lists to bring Robert Cole and his family to life, but damn, I had to push myself to get through most of it.
