I love dinosaurs and enjoyed the main Dinotopia series. I remembered reading these junior novels as a kid and so essentially picked one up at random to give it a try. While it's a decent story and enjoyed it when I was reading it, it didn't do much for me. Essentially the plot revolves two 12-13-year old boys from a desert town on Dinotopia who are polar opposites. One's a studious bookworm while the other's a jokester and a goofball. They end up on a caravan crossing the desert before getting lost in a sandstorm. It's good book for kids, and I had fun while reading, but I kept dragging my feet on physically picking it up and had other books that I'd rather read. Maybe another time or another in the series, but I just wasn't able to finish this one.

Loved these as a child. Beautifully imagined world, swashbuckling adventure. Multiple authors for refreshing different writing styles.

A wonderful, fantastic series. The authors do a good job to keep their writing and voice congruous throughout the various books.
