Recommends it for: everybody

Mi favorito es 'The swimmer'.

The Geometry of Love by John Cheever
Delightful short story, like any that John Cheever has written

The tone of the tale might be set from the start, which is sarcastic-
- “IT WAS ONE of those rainy late afternoons when the toy department of Woolworth’s on Fifth Avenue is full of women who appear to have been taken in adultery and who are now shopping for a present to carry home to their youngest child.”
Charlie Mallory thinks about infidelity as the only possible explanation for the cheerfulness of

Question about "The Geometry of Love": Is his wife really having a phantom affair as the ending suggests. or are we fooling ourselves to think so? I'm puzzled.

John Cheever was an American novelist and short story writer, sometimes called "the Chekhov of the suburbs" or "the Ovid of Ossining." His fiction is mostly set in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the suburbs of Westchester, New York, and old New England villages based on various South Shore towns around Quincy, Massachusetts, where he was born.

His main themes include the duality of human nature:
