Notwithstanding being a science student back in my academic days, I have always believed in the notion that it is must for every science student to know about the basics of commerce as everyone needs to file return at some stage of their lives, makes transactions via bank account and also investment in mutual funds or stocks as the case may be though the converse is not true.
'Financial Accounting' book serves this very purpose of equipping the people with the basics well. It talks about the balance sheets, how various financial systems work, cash flow and so on. I won't say the coverage is exhaustive as solved examples are pretty less but to build your fundamentals the book caters to the requirements well
It helps in comprehending the regularly read concepts in newspapers like shareholders, various kinds of taxes, accounting tools just to name a few. I often use to find myself helpless while skimming through the news when I couldn't decipher the meaning of many economic terms discussed there so but after reading this book, I build at least some sort of confidence in understanding the articles properly

Recently I went to a nearby bookstore and asked about financial management books and I store person handed this few books to me out of which financial management by Kalpesh Ashar was one. What caught my attention towards this book was the size and I wondered what would it have content wise. When I opened the table of content I was amazed to see the topics that were being covered. So I decided to buy this book.

When I came back home I gave a bird's eye view to the whole book and literally liked the simple and easy narrations of each and every topic. Being a commerce student I have always looked for quality content not the number of pages a book provides me...and this book does the same thing.

However I feel two things in this book could have been better-
1. More practical examples with solutions
2. Price of the book (I got it for 449 which I think was slightly high as compared to other books available in the market)

Overall it's a good book and is very helpful to me in my making certain basics clear to me...Also, at the end of the book there is this little glossary provided so whenever I get confused between various accounting terms, I quickly have a overview and get it sorted...!

This book is very informative and very nice for students who need to study accounts. If you are going through trouble with accounts like I am then this book is definitely for you. This book contains diagrams, short notes and examples related to each chapter and has a detailed analysis of the chapter written nicely in head points formation. There are solved examples and exercises at the end of each chapter and you can download the answers from Vibrant Publisher's website. It also gives a preview of the chapter in the starting and it also contains a glossary at the end of the book. The language is simple and easy to understand and read. The book is very nicely written and I couldn't find any grammatical error. It is not a textbook but if you need a detailed summary of your accounts chapters; Accounting Systems, Overview of Financial Statements, The Balance Sheet, The Income Statement, The Statement Of Cash Flow, then this book is definitely for you. Overall, it's a great book with a detailed summary of the important chapters of accounts and it's worth using if you have exams soon.

Financial Accounting Essentials You Always Wanted to Know provides a “set of bare minimum skills that you need in order to understand financial numbers,” and it does a beautiful job!
I have been considering a career in accounting for awhile and what better way to see if it’s a good fit then by learning some basic accounting skills.
The accounting concepts are put in a simple, and easy to understand format, even for someone like me who has little to no accounting experience. The chapters are very short, with all of the information to the point, as well as a few examples to help bring said points home.
Because of its simplicity, I can see this being a great resource for accounting students and anyone who would like more bookkeeping knowledge.

I’m not sure who the target audience for this book was supposed to be. Everything about this book was for large companies with stockholders. If you are running a company of that size, then you should have a degree. This book would be obsolete for you. If you have a small business there weren’t enough examples to clearly understand the concepts. To me, this felt like a dictionary of financial terminology. A word was introduced, a definition was given and a vague example pertaining to big business was given. And on to the next word. Also, there were many “definitions” that didn’t clarify anything so I used Google. If you are just looking to refresh your memory about these terms, this book is great.

Financial knowledge is very important for everyone. This book tells us about different types of accounting systems and financial statements. It gives us a detailed explanation on balance sheet, income statement and cash flows.
The book also contains solved examples of each topic and also practice exercises.
It is a very informative book and all the concepts are explained in simple words so that everyone can understand.
It is quite comprehensive for the layperson but not enough for those looking for deep knowledge.

The book, despite being a small, has a brief detail on the topic with many examples which can be even understood by people from any background.
Overall, this book is a good resource to all the management students, professionals and anyone looking for a better understanding of financial accounting

June 9, 2022I’ve recently felt the need to learn more about finance, so I was pleased when this book was offered through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers Programme. I thank the publishers for a free electronic copy of this book. This is my honest review. Since I have no financial background, I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the contents, but nothing struck me as out of place.
The book is fairly short, which is fine and not intimidating as an introductory text. The layout and order of topics seems logical. I liked that there is mention of professional standards: with United States bodies being cited (clearly the authors can’t cover everywhere).
The prose is very comprehensible. I noticed just a few typos. In one area (section 2.2), the formatting of example entries seemed misaligned, making it difficult to read. But this was a small exception to the overall clear appearance.
Each chapter ends with examples, practice exercises and then a summary. The answers to the exercises are available online. At the time of writing this review, it looks as if the answers are for the previous edition of this book, but presumably they will be updated.
I expect I will keep this book to hand for future reference.

I a an accounting technician by training but also a teacher in Further Education and I felt this publication would be useful for me in helping my learners to understand the basics of Financial Accounting. Sometimes we forget how long ago it is since learning these fundamental features of accounting. I am delighted to say that this publication exceeds expectations. The layout is fairly standard for a textbook but the language is clearer and more broken down for any student tackling this subject. Extremely well set out, with a natural progression from one point to the next. It is for an American audience so the finer details such as revenue requirements for other jurisdictions are naturally not included but by and large this book can easily be translated from dollars to other currencies. I do not hesitate to recommend for any student or interested other this book. It is a neat handbook. Many thanks to the publishers, Netgalley and the author for an essential tool in bookkeeping and accounts.

My Views: This is a short book on financial accounting. The book is divided into five chapters in which it covered the topics including :
1) Accounting System
2) Overview of Financial Statements
3) The Balance Sheet
4) Income Statement
5) The statements of cash flows.
What I liked about this book :
*Easy and Simple language
*The diagrams are helpful.
What I didn't like about this book:
*There is no key answer for practice questions.
*There are few Solved Questions Only.
Overall it's a good book for a management student to clear their basic concepts of accounting.
Recommended to all the finance Students.

The most useful part is the solved examples at the end of each lesson or topic. The topics are divided into five chapters and each chapter gives the detailed explanation of the topics and the sub topics.
Not just the beginners, but everyone into the field can use this book as a reference to brush up the topics. The book mainly focused on the three main components to a companies financial statements. The three components are then divided into three chapters and explained with utmost care and detailing. Overall a handy book.

As an accountant, I always find it interesting to read books that are geared toward non-accountants. It helps me understand where management is coming from when they make strange requests for data. This book was right on the money in terms of explaining various topics related to accounting. It has a very easy-to-read format and you are quickly able to skim through to get to a specific topic, as needed. I highly recommend this book to any non-accountant business people... it will save you time and confusion in the long run. Your accountant will thank you.

Financial Accounting by Vibrant Publishers is a self learning management toolkit really helpful for people who really don't have any idea about financial accounting. It covers topics related to net income, Revenue, Liabilities, Equity and many more. The length of the book is too less but it will give you an overview about financial accounting. Concepts are well explained with some examples which helps you to understand the topics better.
