I drove Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway for the third time in June.
This book focuses on the history, area, and the people along the way. It barely covers the Smokey Mountains National Park. It mentions the Biltmore Estate -once.
This book, published in 1992 is alreadt obsolete. It makes the people of the region look like hayseeds and hillbilllies They interviewed quite a few people that are dead now.

“The Blue Ridge Mountains were old when the Himalaya were born, were ancient when the Alps erupted, were worn nearly to nubbins when the Rockies arose in the west.” — Ron Fisher, Blue Ridge Range, The Gentle Mountains

A laconic, tranquil read, that acts as a snapshot of the Blue Ridge Range and Appalachia circa the early-mid 90s.
