There is more to a hot sauce than just heat, yet so many people focus on heat and not the taste. Hot sauce is a particularly versatile thing if you just let it be. For many it is positively addictive.
A fan of hot sauce will surely be in heaven with this book that bursts at the seems with information galore, ranging from the history of hot sauce and its constituent ingredients to making your own hot sauces. Of course, at the end there are a number of recipes to put your own handiwork to the test.

Yummy!

I'm a gardener with a bumper crop of peppers this year and am only looking for additional ways to preserve my harvest. This book is inspirational in that regard. Some of the sauces sound so hot, though, that I broke into a sweat just reading about them - though, in all likelihood, that was probably the bowl of ramen noodle soup dressed with my own pickled Hungarian yellow wax pepper rings that I was eating when I read most of this book.

You really want to sweat this summer? Make up a batch of Ja Maican Me Crazy Jerk Sauce, marinate ribs for 24 hours and grill. Your friends will curse and compliment you in the same breath. Try the Tomatillo Salsa Verde, serve with chips and a cold adult beverage and you'll never use store bought again.

This book is bright and fun and easy to use. Just open the windows when cooking, and never rub your eyes.

Aficionados of Hot Sauces will be thrilled with this book! It gives a nice overview on the different types of chilis that are available and their flavor profiles. Also included, are recipes and techniques to make your own hot sauce, and an assortment of recipes that use the various sauces. I was inspired by this book to start developing my own versions.
