Great readaloud for primary schools. Subtle reference to Richard the Lionheart

Book Review by Rotto the RottStar (occasionally known as Rotto the Rotten)

image: description

Chilli (AKA The Red Stealer) has reason to be concerned that she might follow the dentist, hairdresser, chef and zookeeper into the lion.

Rotto, on the other paw, believes this is a fabulous book to read, especially while dressed as a lion.

Rotto gives In the Lion by James Foley an outstanding Four Paws.

In The Lion is a lovely book. It begins with a family going to the zoo. They go to the lion's cage where he is getting special treatment. Unfortunately, the lion is feeling a little bit peckish. Once he's had his fill, a young boy named Richard endeavours to save the day. It's primary theme is the amusing tale of the lion being really hungry, but it also has the sweet story of Richard going to the rescue and putting others' safety in front of his own. ...more

James Foley makes children’s books for children who read books. If you’re a child and you’re eating his books, you’re doing it wrong. James writes and draws; he gives talks and runs workshops. He tells dad jokes. Legends say James can grow a beard in an afternoon. He lives in Perth with his wife, son and labrador. He is a massive Marvel movie nerd and comes from a long line of queuing enthusiasts. ...more
