Kate Douglas started out writing radio copy for a country western radio station in 1972, wrote and illustrated an educational cartoon strip for the American Mosquito Control Association for a number of years, was a newspaper reporter for a small town weekly where she covered everything from high school sports to drug busts, and then, in the mid-1980s, decided to write her first romance.
Many submissions and rejections followed.
In 1998, she sold to a small ebook publisher before anyone knew what an ebook was, but it wasn't until 2005, a full twenty years after finishing that first romance, that she signed with a New York publisher.
In January 2006, Kensington Publishing launched their Aphrodisia imprint of erotic romance with Kate's Wolf Tales, a sexy paranormal series about a lost race of shapeshifters. She went on to write 21 novels and novellas in that series, then wrote three other series for Kensington before moving to St. Martin's Press.
She has two series with SMP--The Intimate Relations series complete with three novels and one novella of romantic suspense set in California's wine country, and an erotic paranormal series, Feral Passions, set in California's Trinity Alps.
She is also continuing her Spirit Wild series, the sequel to Wolf Tales, independently.

CHANKU JOURNEY----
After finding out what happened to Tia's mother and everything that has happened to her father, she has finally found the perfect mate. Her mother told her that she would marry Luc and would have many babies. The wedding is just a couple of weeks away....
Shannon, Jake and Baylor decided to ride their bikes cross country to the wedding in California from Maine. As promised by the men, she would definitely have plenty of pampering and loving.
Tala, Mik and AJ are driving from a mission hoping to arrive several days in advance before the wedding.
Keisha, Xandi, Stefan and Anton will be flying in Anton's private jet. Anton doesn't think it is wise because of Keisha being in her late pregancy-due any time. She assures him things will be fine. Only the bad dreams keeps his nerves on end. His pilot is unavailable for flight but a past co-pilot is. They are all on the plane and drinking water. Sleepy from the last nights sexual encounters and packing, they all fall asleep or so they thought. Keisha awakens sensing they are flying in the wrong direction. She immediately tries to link with everyone. Who responds?
The plane crashes-----
Several of them are hurt and wouldn't you know it during all the wreckage, Keisha goes into labor. A mental call was put out from Stefan to anyone who could possibly hear him. AJ, Mik and Tala were, of course, hot in a menage sexual encounter when upon the moment of climax, they sense something is wrong. This is when it all comes together.
All of the Chanku packs come together. Although through all of the bad events that happen, they still have something to look forward to-all packs together at one time and the wedding, as well as something else. One other person shows up that was not expected that lets Anton and Tia know that everything will be alright and life right now for everyone is pretty good.
From the moment I started reading, first the anxiety of Tia, then what happens to all of the other packs, I could not put this novella down. I loved it and cannot wait to start reading Wolf Tales V (Wolf Tales). This is the only story I read from the book. Once I finish all of the Chanku books, I will be coming back to all of the novellas and reading the remainder stories.

Anthology. Just an observation, Sexy Beast II and III are wearing the same skirt/loin cloth thing. With all that baby oil everywhere, I'm sure the thing is filthy. I would read this book just for the short story "Winter Kiss" by Morgan Hawke.
1. Chanku Journey by Kate Douglas. I am getting a little tired of all the winking in these stories. If I had a drinking game for everytime someone winked, even with this short story, I probably would have had about 20 shots. It got to the point where I stopped paying attention to what little story line there was and was waiting for the wink. **
2. Kiss of the Dragon by Lucy Danes. First time I read this author. The story was sometimes good but most of the time not. Chester (what an awful name for a supposedly sexy man let alone a sexy dragon!) meets Nora when he breaks into her work to find a device that can identity "others". And then the party starts! PS Sweet cheeks is an awful term of endearment. **

I really like Morgan Hawke's Winter's Kiss -- a slightly sad, slightly sweet story featuring Kasi, who returns to Japan in search of the tiger that saved her life when she was a child and is surprised to discover that the tiger of her memory is really tiger shifter Yuki Shirotora--who's decided that she is his destined mate. It's all terribly dramatic and emotional. It's less erotic than a lot of MH's other works and has a really lovely fairy tale aspect to it.
The Kate Douglas story was ok. I'm not familiar with this series and think it would make more sense if I was. If her stories were sold as stand-alones, I might be willing to read more, but based on this one I have no interest in purchasing more anthologies like this unless it's with other authors that I know I like. In other words, not bad but not great either.

"CHANKU JOURNEY" in Sexy Beast III

The Chanku are planning one hell of a party in San Francisco, on the beach. Luc and Tia are mated, but Camille wanted her daughter to be married. Tia will wear her mother's wedding gown, and you could feel Camille's spirit close. All the Chanku were en route.
This is where the pretty, pretty ends. Kate Douglas takes her readers beyond erotic, to a place where you men should throw your jockstraps out. Ladies, kick those knickers off.
Kate has the keys to the kingdom of physical reaction. Hell, I'm already breathing hard and sweating. So, you all can catch up I'll give you some incentive.
Mik, Tala, and A.J. have just closed a case in Alabama. Tala suggests they drive out to Frisco. There is such beautiful country I haven't seen yet. Tala loves cheap motel rooms and having sex with her two gorgeous men. Tala was like the energizer bunny. Absolutely addicted to the intensity of her men.
Jake and Baylor are trying to bribe Shannon with passionate sex. Wanting her to agree to ride motorcycles from Maine to Frisco. The sex worked, but with a few of her conditions. Had to eat at excellent restaurants, nice motels, a massage after everyday ride, and finally, the credit card for a shopping spree. Whatever she buys, will be sent home. I love smart women. They had her clothes off before she hit the bed, and the massage turned her heat up.
The Colorado four, Anton, Keisha, Stephen, and Xandi would be flying in. Anton is about to have a cat. So worried about Keisha's pregnancy. Keisha states, "darling if I go into labor, you can deliver the baby." He knew he had lost the argument as soon as she and Xandi joined hands and stared at him. Then Stephen says, " you told me once if you mate with a Chanku bitch, she gets the balls. Anton wanted to choke him.
This author has the ability to let us,. the readers, be a part of the pack, to feel many of the pleasures. I remember wanting to run out the door naked, chasing the wind. That was one hell of a nightmare for the neighbors. This time, I read this tale to my old dog.
An 11-year-old Rottweiler. We drank a couple beers while reading and when I finished,
both of us went out back naked as my first birthday, him too. Standing there howling up at the moon and scratching himself, Talk about rude.
Tia said it better than anyone, giggling, she said, "I can't wait to see what happens next."

WOW! There is just so much happening in this story! The Chanku are all coming to together from all over the country to witness the wedding of Tia and Luc. In the middle of their travels things go bad. I mean BAD! There are SO many things happening in this story I can't cover them all. Suffice it to say, this is one story thick with plot.
This story has plenty of graphic G/G and M/M sexual exploits as well as threesomes and foursomes. There is nothing light about Kate Douglas' erotica, there is really nothing left to the imagination. If this is what you are seeking then you have found an entertaining series.

Quick novella from the master....Kate Douglas gives us a quick and important journey across the country as we go to a wedding. Tia and Luc are about to get married and Shannon does not want to miss it. It's a good thing hey are taking the long way and driving it turns out their needed on the ground. July 18, 2012i have read and loved all of the wolf tales and sexy beast books/her charecters are well written with intricate issues. plus they are just hot. i find this author to have a really great imagination,one i would like to live one day in(heres looking at you anton) the exotic situations she creates and complexities of her charecters/plotlines make her a must read author

3 good stories. The Kate Douglas story was not as good as previous stories, and I think if one hadn't read the previous, it would be even less enjoyable. The other 2 were interesting, and hot.

Keisha is being stalked by a reporter, the pack has poacher's on their lands and there's LOTS of loving sex going on. The story was good, I personally wasn't into all the sex, although all the scenes were well done.
