Savage Hunger is book one in the Heart of the Jaguar series by Terry Spear. What I love most about Terry Spear’s books is that they grab you right away and keep you invested until the very last page. And that is exactly how I feel about this book.

Imagine being a Jaguar shifter but not being able to find any others like you. Of there being no hope in sight of finding a mate, someone to share life with, have children with. This is the life Conner Anderson and his sister, Maya have been given. Ab

I've cheated and read the later books in this series. They are far better than this first book where we are introduced to 2 jaguar shifters in the Amazon. Connor and Maya are brother and sister and are vacationing in their Amazon home when they come across Kat, alone in the jungle. Connor is attracted to Kat and he had rescued her from drug dealers a year earlier. Maya impetuously turns Kat into a jaguar shifter so that her brother will have a mate, not consulting w

I can not believe I have never read a Terry Spear novel before. Wow, her writing voice is beautiful and is a wonderful storyteller. The characters jump off the pages and her descriptive writing is amazing. I felt like I was right there in the Jungle with the waterfalls, Pink Dolphins and Jaguars. I love when a author takes the time to research what they are writing. I never knew Pink Dolphins existed. I love shifter novels especially the ones where they actually shift. Connor Anderson and his sister Maya are Jaguar Shifters. At least once a year, Connor and Maya trek to the Amazon to give their wild side free range. This past year Connor ran into what he believes a kidnapping gone wrong, but in all actuality it is an undercover US military sting to capture a drug lord gone really wrong. He rushes to the rescue of the women in distress Kathleen McKnight, she’s been shot and is in really bad shape. Just as Connor stops the blood flow, the army arrives and he mak ...more
Funny when Kat was from Army but she barely protected herself. She is more damsel in distress to me and I wasn't thrilled about it.

This is KAT in jaguar form.

This is CONNOR in jaguar form.

I liked reading parts like they shift to jaguar, learn their hunting instincts, and their gracefulness. I also liked parts the description of Amazon rain forest. Sounds beautiful to me and I'm a biased anyway since I lived in a rain forest island.

Another funny thing is, the drug lord who is almost impossible to

I found this book to be an easy going enjoyable read. It had action, drama, emotion & hot love scenes. I have read quite a few books by this author and just like with this book i enjoyed them all. I felt the author had all the ingredients in all the right measures to make a great shifter story.
The chemistry was clear between the leads and the build up to them getting together was hot. I liked that the emotion continued to intensify betwe

It's quite refreshing to read a paranormal romance after taking a break from them. This is the first in the series about jaguar shifters. There's action and definite steamy moments shared between Connor and Kathleen. I'm intrigued enough to want to read Maya's book because she is such a strong female, and I'd like to see who could win her over.

Being a fan of Terry Spear’s “Heart of the Wolf” series, when I found out that a new shifter series, a Jaguar shifter series was coming, I was thrilled. I love shape-shifter books, and I especially love the big cats. Cat shifters are a nice turn from werewolves, and I knew that Terry Spear could be counted on to deliver a great read.

Savage Hunger is the first book in this new “Heart of the Jaguar” series, and it is filled with suspense, big jungle cats, and plenty of steamy romance. Connor Ander

Through a horrific event, medical discharge from the army and a failed engagement, Kathleen McKnight hasn't stopped thinking about Connor Anderson and the jaguar she believes is like his pet. A year after a failed mission in the Amazon, Kat makes her way back into the jungle to thank the man that saved her life on that fateful day.

Connor hasn't been able to get Kat off his mind and when he and his sister Maya make their annual trip to South America to shift and roam freely as jaguars, he's surp

This book was better than I expected. The heroine is in the Army and ends up in a horrible situation during an undercover operation against a drug lord in Colombia. She is saved by a man shortly after a jaguar is seen by the guards. None of them realize he and the jaguar are one and the same.

A year later she returns to the Amazon to confront her trauma and to find the man who saved her life. The scene when she finds him is a bit silly. Coming face to face with two jaguars in the middle of the ju

Whenever I see a Terry Spear book I get so excited. It’s because I know I am about to be entertained by one of the best paranormal romance storytellers. I am a huge fan of her wolf shifter series so when I heard she was writing a new series about jaguar shifters, well is there any wonder as to why I had to get my hands on a copy ASAP??

I am so utterly delighted that I did!

I've gone back and forth, clicking the 3 star button, then the 4 star button, and then back to the 3 star button, etc. I don't think I can go so far as to say I really liked it... but 3 stars doesn't seem like enough.

I don't have any real complaints or compliments about this one. I enjoyed it while I read it, but now that it's over... it's not very memorable. I'd recommend it for feline-shifter fans, but I'm not sure why aside from the obvious.

Savage Hunger is as steamy a story as the humidity of the jungle it takes place in and is just as dangerous. Take a good look at the wonderful and vibrant cover. See the woman peeking over the shoulder of the hot hunk? That is none other than Kathleen, the heroine, and I have to give the artist credit. Kat has this really saucy and cheeky wit that pops out with a mischievous twinkle in her eye and the artist captured her at a moment o

SAVAGE HUNTER by Terry Spear is the first in a new series about shifters that can change at will into jaguars. This makes a change from the abundance of werewolf fiction, so I was ready to give this book a chance to make a good impression.

It begins with a flashback to events a year prior to the novel, in which heroine, army captain Kathleen McKnight, is trapped in the Amazon rainforest after a drugs bust gone wrong. She is unde

Savage Hunger is the first installment of the Heart of the Jaguar series. This is my first Terry Spear book and my first Jaguar Shifter story. I have to admit I am intrigued. This book is suspenseful, fast pace and has a captivating romance with a good plot.

Kathleen McKnight was captured by a drug lord while on assignment with the Army in the Amazon. She was positive she was going to be killed when she was rescued by a stranger and his jaguar. A year later and discharged from the Army, Kat makes her way back to the Amazon trying to find Connor Anderson to personally thank him for saving her life. She winds up with much more than she bargained for, both from Connor, his sister and the drug lord still out to get her.

Savage Hunger is book one in Heart of the Jaguar series by Terry Spear. This is a re-read for me. I enjoy reading Ms. Spear’s books. I will say I was not as drawn into the story as the first time around, but I still enjoyed the read. We get a sweet romance with a little action.

Connor, Jaguar shifter. Him and his sister Maya where abandoned as kids and don’t know a lot about the Jaguar shifter world which leaves them not to sure if they can change someone into a Jaguar

Okay not sure when I bought this book from the used book store, but as always with Terry’s books I loved it!!!

The cover is sexy, and I love the jaguar and that Connor and Kat are included :) It definitely attracted me into buying it especially with Terry’s name on it :) I buy anything fantasy written by her :) One day I may take the plunge into historical, but there is never enough time to read everything :)

I love Kat as a character. She is brave

When you’re in the Army and are captured by the bad guys, even if you knew it was going to happen, the last thing you expect to see is a jaguar in their camp. The next to the last thing you expect to see is a guy who isn’t Army untying you and helping you lie down. Then your above- you-in-grade fiancé shows up and could care less about how YOU feel – he’s just pissed he didn’t get to catch the bad guys. He doesn’t even really care that you are the sole survivor of the plan.

This novel takes place in the beautifully romantic and dangerous rain forest. By page four you are already stalking drug runners in an enemy camp and rescuing the damsel in distress. Did i mention that its as a jaguar? And of course the jaguar has to fall in love with the army officer that he rescues. And a year later she has to return to the jungle to meet up with him and say thank you. So the love story is off to a quick start and Kat seems to be go with the flow to a ridiculous level. A great book about jaguar shifters set in the Amazon jungle. I loved how you felt like you were in the jungle with them fighting the drug cartel and seeing what it was like to turn a regular person into a jaguar shifter. I like that it was a new experience to Maya and Connor as well as the reader. I also like how they ended the book with you asking "who is Wade Patterson" so that it made you eager to read the next book and find out.

I really got into this story from the sifters to the one who can’t forget the jaguar as one of them can’t forget her. When Kathleen is caught by a drug lord she is at her wits in wondering how things could go so wrong. This was supposed to be an easy in do the take down and get out all alive. It looks like someone they know changed sides and wants Kathleen out of the picture. In return, she loses all her man and is about to come face to face with the man in charge. What could he want with her, s ...more

A good start

I enjoyed how the POV was told from every character, and how seamlessly the author managed doing so without causing confusion about who was talking/thinking. The book was paced well, with only a small lag in action during the first half, to allow us a chance to get to know the characters of this new series and to give the main characters some bonding time. I’d give it 5 stars if only the author had thought to include more of WHY the hero fell for the heroine. It was a little lacking

The chemistry between Connor and Kathleen was great. I felt Maya was too impulsive and didn't think about the consequences of what she did. Kat was way to forgiving to her about everything. I also just didn't get why Kat seemed to be the helpless female a lot of the time. She was a Captain in the Army....that means she should have been able to handle herself better. She shouldn't have felt useless just because she didn't have a gun handle all the time.

I like Terry's stories and this one was no different than all others I've read. She knows how to write a good story or book that keeps the reader interested. I'll keep reading on! Kudos to Terry Spear.

This book was well writing, but I had a hard time getting into it at times. Maya does not act like someone who is thirty-years-old, and Kat was a hard character to understand at times. I will read the next one, so overall this book was okay for what it was.
