I just... I can’t! I tried, I really did.
I LOVED the "Cat Star Chronicles”. This is the main reason WHY I stayed for the ride even after reading “Stud” in all its gory relationship conflicts and ghastly sperm (or snard, if you will) related back stories.

I think that part of the attraction when it comes to the Cat Chronicles was the fact that these big kitty-cats were pretty monogamous and very very rare, thus they turned in to HUGE puddles of goo when in love, and…well, when their mates got

Recommends it for: Fantasy/Erotic Romance Lovers
The Cat Star Chronicles by Cheryl Brooks has been one of my favorite "out-of-this-world" series. The sexual heat totally burns up the pages in these romances with some of the most explicit sexual scenes I've yet to read. The author's imagination soars to realms that left me spell bound. With all of the dedicated reading that I've done within the romance genre in general and the many sub-genres, I have yet to come across heroes of the caliber Ms. Brooks describes. "WildCat" continues the wild rid ...more

Returning to the delicious joy giving Zetithian males, Jerden is the latest main character in this series. Jerden is a troubled male who worked in a brothel yet can't get his dick up anymore. A brutal murder of his "fluffer" turned him of sex work for a long time. Resting in Terra Minor, Jerden's friends hopes he will come out of his depression.

Sara Shields is a frontier woman who loves horses. Ms. Brooks does a great job detailing horses and making this quite authentic. It's clear, Ms. Brooks k

I loved both of the main characters in Wildcat. Sara Shield is so independent and does not think she needs a man, especially one like Jerden. Jerden, on the other hand, is thought to be dangerous and a little insane. Living like a hermit he does not think he will ever respond to any woman again. When Sara shows no reaction to him as a man it really catches his attention The more they are together the bigger their attraction to each other grown.

This is a good story line. The opening scene with Je

Sara Shield has taken charge of her life. She’s moved to Terra Minor, a relatively safe planet, where she runs her horse training and breeding service. When one of the prized stallions that she owns escapes, she has no choice but to head over to the neighboring property owned by Jerden Morokovitz to try and retrieve him. When she arrives at Jerden’s place, Sarah is totally unprepared for the sight of Jerden, riding her beautiful stallion, Danuban, naked. T

For anyone unfamiliar with Cheryl Brook's Cat Star Chronicles my advise to you would be to go buy the first 8 and read them between now an February 5th. Each book is a stand alone story and it can be read as such however you will miss some of the subtext of the world and be less likely to understand the secondary characters.

With the murder of his lover and fluffer from the Zetithian Palace brothel, Jerden escapes to the relative quiet of Terra Minor where he has purchased a ranch to isolate hims

Cheryl Brooks newest offering to the wonderful world of the Cat Star Chronicles is Wildcat. Take a journey to mystical worlds featuring unusual terrain and even more colorful inhabitants. Sara Shield is tired of her life on Earth, and decides a new planet might be her ticket to new possibilities.

Sara is well aware she’s considered attractive. A cruel episode brought this home to her when she was much younger. The safest way to deal with the pain is to close that part of her life off forever. Sar

When Sara Shield sees the wild Zetithian hermit riding across the meadow on her stallion with a black leopard beside them, she's stunned. Not just because the man is astride the horse without benefit of saddle or bridle and not because he is gloriously naked. She's stunned because the leopard, the horse and the Zetithian form an incomparable image of Nature at her finest.

She wasn't the kind of woman who normally would swoon at a man's good

Wildcat is my favorite of Cheryl Brooks' Cat Star Chronicles series. I love the world, the backstory and the inventive, unique characteristics she created for them all. I enjoy the ways that characters from the previous books weave meaningfully into the latter storylines. I read all the books last year but scenes from Wildcat still replay in my mind so I decided to write a review.

I found the connection between Sara and Jerden to be more complex, more intriguing, more primal, and ultimately more

This book was a very different read for me. I tend to read a lot of paranormal and admit that I thought this was a shifter book when I chose to read it. It was not and believe it or not I am glad. This book was so very different and had such an intriguing world that I was immediately sucked in. The characters were diverse and all of them had something about them that made them memorable no matter how small a role they played and that is not something that I often see. I also really enjoyed how a ...more

More of a 3.76 but close enough.

Ok, some thoughts.

1 - While the h's reaction to contact w/males was fairly realistic, the about face after just a few days in the H's company wasn't. Even a Zetithian's joy juice isn't going to overcome conditioned response that ingrained. That this is a common issue with romances featuring rape victim heroines only slightly clouds the issue.

2 - After she passed the rival's fields and noted their neglect, why didn't she wonder about him a bit more?

3 - I disliked

***Review of Cheryl Brooks’ Wildcat (Cat Star Chronicles #9)***
I received a publisher copy in exchange for an honest review of Wildcat which came out on 2/05/2013.
This series is not stand alone as many of the characters from previous books play a role in this one and much of what is plaguing Jereden is told in a previous story.
In Wildcat - Sara Shield is looking to escape men and live life under her own terms and meeting up with Zetithian Jerden Morokovitz is the last thing she wants – Jerden is

The book description leaves out quite a bit. Sara is neighbors with Bonnie and Lynx from book 4 of the Cat Star Chronicles series, Outcast. They are in the book quite a bit and anyone who knows me knows that I love updates on previous characters. I figure it's about 20 years since the first book since Jack and Cat have teenage children. Yes, there's a few parts with them in the book as well as some other books. I was very pleased.

But enough about previous characters! This book is about Sara and
3.5 stars.
Overall I enjoyed the story. The male Zentithian, Jerden formerly of the Pleasure Palace, has moved to Terra Minor to hide and recover mentally after his "fluffy' Audrey was killed by a jealous female wanting her job.
Sara is a human who avoids men due to being physically abused and raped by a man back on Earth years prior.
So that sets up the basic story. Guys avoiding everyone and girl who avoids men. They are brought together by a runaway horse and strike an mutually beneficial agre

The book opens with Jerden riding into Sara's view on "her missing stallion - no bridle, no saddle, no clothes - with a black leopard bounding alongside". Well, I was hooked! The Cat Star Chronicles are hot books to begin with, but this picture sure pulled me right into the story! Jerden is a Zetithian and one of very few that were able to escape the destruction of their home planet. He has a fairly sad history making him a wonderful candidate for a "tortured hero". Sara has heard the rumores t ...more

The ninth in Brooks’ Cat Star Chronicles is pure alien/human romance. The slow burn between horse breeder Sara and former brothel star Jerden is delicious, and when they finally realize they may need each other to heal, the consummation of their relationship is scorching hot. An added delight is the mystery of who wants to harm Sara’s prize stallion. All combined, they add up to a book that keeps you turning pages in a series that’s far from going stale.

Nice addition to this series which is a guilty pleasure for me. Come on the whole orgasmic snard thing is pretty goofy but hey I'm used to it. I've bought it this far so I'll keep on buying it. And it is a pleasant little sci fi world with interesting diverse aliens and a pretty good backstory. Still the gist of this story is not really that. The author does a pretty good job of bringing to life two damaged people. Can a man who was a prostitute learn to settle with just one woman? Can he get ov ...more

This is the first book in the Cat Star Chronicles that I have read, and it is definitely a stand alone novel. I never felt lost or left out because the book focused solely on the lead character’s who were new to each other. The sex scene’s were definitely a hot read, and while the emotional turmoil was great to read, there was a lack of adventure as well as outside conflict. Conflict created by other chraracter’s did appear, but it was at the very end of the book. I wish the book had been a bit ...more

I have loved the 'Star Cat Chronicles' since the very first book and this one just added to my enjoyment. The heroes are heroic, sexy and monogamous when they meet their heroines. The Heroines are usually fairly normal humans (one or two are human/other) who have that something extra that attracts those Heroes (and I'm not talking model type good looks). In fact most of the time it is a typical 'boy meets girl and they fall in love' book but somehow Ms Brooks is able to imbue her books with a sp ...more

Another fine example of Sci-Fi that appeals to me: a lover of contemporary & historical romance. Who knew? I have read every one of Cheryl's Cat Star Chronicles books and from the first was astounded. The race she built (catmen) are the sexiest, hunkiest males in the galaxy, and following these hunks from exiled loners to family men is always a blast! They can be read individually (I never read them in order as I did not discover her until Book #3) but she gives just enough backstory to allo ...more

I won this book from Goodreads First reads. This is the first book I have read by this author. The blurb in the giveaway caught my attention and so I entered. I did like this story it was a little different with the different kinds of species of characters in it. I didn't get with the book description in the giveaway how explicit it would be with sex. I don't really mind this kind of book but I got to say the alien sex was a bit much for me. Overall though I really enjoyed the story and the cha ...more

This is the ninth book in the series and is another good addition to the SciFi/Erotica series. This story although a little light and predictable was sweet and easy to read. I also enjoyed seeing characters from previous books. Wildcat is not my favorite in the series but still enjoyable. I feel 3.5 stars is a more accurate rating but because that is not an option here and overall the Cat Star Chronicles is a series I really enjoy I'm going with 4 stars.

I have read the rest of the Cat Star Chronicles so I kind of knew what to expect from this instalment. What I didn't expect was to not actually like this book as much as the rest of them (sorry Cheryl). The story between Jerden and Sara to me was just not really hot! If anything it was bordering on being quite boring to read. I persevered to 66 % and gave up. I may go back and finish the rest of the book, but for now Wildcat is being put back on my To Read shelf. Sara Shield runs her own horse ranch on the planet Terra Minor. She does not like males and shudders at their touch because of her past problems. Jerden Morokovitz is her neighbour. A Zetithian who loves to ride horses bare back and completely nude.

They both have hangups he can't and she won't. But they help each other overcome the problems and after an attempted murder or two. Their future together is looking up.

I had originally read the first book in this series and had not really cared for it. I'm not sure what possessed me to buy this one, but I do like to revisit authors sometimes in case what I read wasn't representational of their writing.

I was never able to buy into this book's world building. All in all it seems just too ridiculous for me and that colored everything. I love fantasy and I'm willing to suspend disbelief but I just couldn't here. I felt it was too over the top.

This story was great. I loved Jerden. He had such a sad story. I also loved Sara. She was such a stoic woman. They became what each other needed. I also love the emergence of each of the capharacters before, like Jack and Cat. If the author decides to publish Onca's story I will read that one. She left me yearning for his.

Wildcat is the 9th book in the Cat Star Chronicles series by Cheryl Brooks. In Wildcat, human beauty Sara Shield has moved to the planet Terra Minor to raise horses. Zetithian Jerden has come to the planet to hide out and heal after his lover was murdered by a crazy lady. Jerden and Sara meet and have an instant attraction that they both try to resist. Another great addition to the series!
