Mice Squeak, We Speak
Three children describe a menagerie of animals and the sounds they make. Purring cats, snoring bears, mooing cows, and quacking ducks are all pictured in bright bold colors. This is a perfect read-along book for the younger set-the catchy, rhyming text begs to be read aloud. Young children won't be able to resist roaring, hooting, and neighing along!

This book shows drawings of different animals and tells what noises they make. It brings special attention to the fact that humans speak. I really like this book. It’s simple and cute. I would use it in a day care or in a home as a tool to help young children learn animal sounds.

This book is very good to teach younger kids what sounds different animals make. I think it'll be super helpful because it also shows a picture example of the animal as well so its teaching them what they look like. very cute book.

Lovely little book!
It would be great for reinforcing animal sounds into vocabulary! It’s a bit simplistic for how humans communicate - maybe could be a great conversation starter for a mixed level group

I would probably use this book for a lesson about the 5 senses. I enjoy the simple language also that could be used for sight word practice.

Through large, colourful illustrations and few words, the reader learns about the ways animals communicate and that people speak with words. Examples: Mice squeak; Ducks quack; Horses neigh; We speak.

Simple but very cute. Cartoon like pictures. Great for beginning readers.

This poem in book form has a lot of rhythm to it, and would make for an excellent out-loud read. Mice Squeak, We Speak is the kind of book that could develop a near cult following among Kindergartners, just because the beat of its words sounds so nice when spoken. The warm drawings lent by Tomie dePaola bring new life to this book, working together well with the text of author Arnold Shapiro.

This was a pretty interesting story. I liked the animation and all the different sounds the animals made. The text was simple, but still had a rhyme and cadence. I might recommend for families who like books about different animals noises.

This is a picture book for very young readers. It has a simple rhyme about how various animals (cats, lions, owls, bears, crickets, mice, sheep, monkeys, cows, ducks, doves, pigs, horses, chickens, flies, dogs, bats, coyotes, frogs, parrots, bees and humans) speak.
I love the classic TdP illustrations.

This one was OK for a baby book [board book]. It was about all the different sounds that animals make, but since we're people, we just talk. Except you know what? They should've had more other things that people do, like YELL and SHOUT and LAUGH and CRY and SCREAM LOUD and all those other ones. That might be another book. I don't know.

This book is a great book for a young age group. The colors on the pages are vibrant. the book is great for children when they are learning animal sounds. The way the book is illustrated and written the children reading this with their teachers or parents, they can call out what sounds the animals make so it can become a more interactive book.

This short and weet book honors sounds animal friends make in nature when they speak in different tongues. And kids speak, too, and are encouraged to know that, while animals have value in this world, so do we as humans. Very simple, yet very moo-ving.

This is a very informative book that has cute pictures. It has very large print so it is good for younger students. It teaches about animals sounds and words humans say, also.

A little long for toddlers, but it would be easy to skip a section or make it a flannel story...
