I was a bit disappointed with this book. While it does give all the color basics, and even shows how to put together some of the projects, it’s a bit of a hodge-podge. There are some great ideas here- how to use furniture in non-traditional ways (cutting down stuff, just using the fancy legs of a falling apart table, etc) for one. A beginner could learn a lot from this book. Sadly, I found that the tastes of the decorators isn’t the same as mine, but it’s not that hard to transfer an idea to a different way of using it. There are also some ridiculous things- cucumbers as décor (good for about 1 day before they start to wizzle up) or spreading dry beans on the kitchen counter as décor. Er, no. Three and a half stars.
