Questionable as to the protagonists' luck with women, but otherwise an engaging adventure. Mind you, I haven't read it in many years, so it may be problematic. I'll get back to you on that if I ever find a copy to re-read it. ...more

The title may be unfamiliar but the book was made into the rather insipid movie Shanghai Suprise.

The film is a lightweight.

The book itself is dark, sometimes violent, sometimes funny (Kenrick has a fine dry turn of phrase) and catches a good feel of pre-war Shanghai.
