-1 star for some repetitive general nutrition advice; with references not end-noted I found the expansion or repetition about a chapter too long. Also, desired mouth-feel, astringency, was nicely defined as wine is dry because "the lubricant effect of saliva is lost" in the right chapter (Ch 7, Drinking to your Health); this chapter was unfortunately delayed to p 86 (recipes begin on p.188) leaving me, as a non-wine person, to guess at the notable mouth-feel for half the book.
My take away is an order to diets I already consider: First, eat food (either populist definition works: Great-grandma would recognize it; or, that it's not manufactured in a factory). Second, fit your macros (manage insulin response of non-fibrous carbohydrate to avoid expanding waistline; protein to avoid hunger and maintain lean mass, at around 1g/kg of bodyweight). Third, eat the rainbow / your colours to insure variety of micronutrients (avoids craving-style hunger). Fourth, beware supplements (a corollary to rule 1, eat food).
