An Introduction to Spanish for Health Care Workers: Communication and Culture

Rate this book
For health care providers who must communicate quickly and effectively with patients who speak only Spanish, this book offers an excellent first course in the language. Designed for students with little or no background in Spanish, it focuses on the Spanish vocabulary, grammar, and colloquial terms and slang that doctors, nurses, and medical technicians most need. It also includes informative cultural notes on Hispanic customs. .

I picked up this book after I had to do a counseling intake in Spanish...and there were definitely some words I didn't now. Although I was after this book for a review of Spanish and then for some specific counselor-friendly vocab that I'll need, it was good for the review, but there was only one chapter on mental health. The rest related to mostly doctor (MD) patient interactions, which were still good to read and review. :)

I still want a "Spanish for Schools" or "Spanish for Counselors" book--if you find one, let me know!
