Eric is a bestselling author, internationally-recognized speaker and president of Ellerslie Mission Society. He is also the senior pastor at the Church at Ellerslie and the lead instructor at Ellerslie Leadership Training in Windsor, Colorado. Ludy is the author of more than a dozen books, many of which were co-authored by his wife, Leslie Ludy. The Ludy's books have sold well over a million copies in the United States and have been translated into over a dozen different languages and circulated widely throughout the world.
This is a hard book to explain; you can't just go around in polite Christian conversation and say that you're reading a book about finding Great Sex. Yet in a nutshell, that IS what this book is about. It's also about so much more. Eric Ludy has a witty, comical flare for writing, and with that he weaves a story of hunting for Great Sex as opposed to Imposter Sex (who by the way, looks like an Elvis impersonator). The hunt for Great Sex leads through learning about all the ingredients that go into making it great, such as purity, sacredness, true masculinity/femininity. Ultimately the book lands you smack down right back on your knees before the holy God who created Great Sex in the first place. I would definitely recommend this book.
This book gave me an incredible picture of a sacred purity that honors Christ most of all. It’s not dour or less fun; it’s a sacred, beautiful calling that will turn life IN Christ into a captivating adventure. “The reality of Christ is the only reality that matters.”
I didn't like the first two chapters. They drove me nuts. I found myself just wanting him to move on with the information. But... i really began to like the way the book was set up once he got going. Again, my only complaint with the Ludy books is related to style. Content is GREAT! It definitely isn't what he set out to write, per his own confession, and i don't think anyone would anticipate what he wrote. However, it's worth reading and thinking about. The imagery is a neat concept. I've been married for 7 years and appreciated the insights on how to have GREAT SEX, which is the theme of the book. But don't let that idea fool you, because it's not what you think...no mechanical instructions, becuase GREAT SEX is a matter of the heart towards one's spouse/future spouse. All in all--goodread!
I've read several of the Ludy's books and have enjoyed them in the past. This one was a bit...not what I expected. I think for someone who has not been raised with a mindset of purity--this might be something helpful. To me, it was too far-out in the weird allegorical way of writing, and also, I think, geared towards a younger audience. For a pre-teen/teenager without a Biblical foundation of purity, this book might be really a great encouragement and perspective changer. For myself--late twenties single adult already familiar with all those teachings--it didn't offer much.
This is an AWESOME read for singles! If you are looking for total mind renewal regarding the manner in which you percieve this awesome expression of LOVE we call sex, this is the read for you. It unfolds like a movie as the author so eloquently paints on the canvis of your imagination. I immediately fell in love with Eric and Leslie!!!! This work was truly a breath of fresh air :-)!
I didn't read the whole thing, but did heavily skim it. It was an attempt to talk about sex in a metaphorical way as if they were real characters and it was just too weird for me. Way to fantasy like. Plus, it didn't seem to address specific issues of 18-30 year olds that it said it would....
Thankfully this isn't like their other books. I think I'd puke if I read another book like their first two, or another Josh Harris book along the same lines.
I tried to read this title after reading Answering Guy Questions by his wife. She had talked about the Warrior Poet -- a term coined by her husband. So I wanted to learn more. I didn't get far because I wasn't sure what he was talking about and gave up.
After reading this book, I really want to have coffee with Mr. Purity, Sacred, Mr. Marvelous, and Feminine Grace….😂
You are not the rightful authority over your life, GOD is. Selfishness is a messy, miserable problem. God designed us as sexual beings and invented the idea of sex for a glorious purpose. Conviction is what saves a misguided person from condemnation.
