Peterson Field Guides #4

Field Guide to the Butterflies of North America: East of the Great Plains

Rate this book
This is an excellent book with great color pics and black and white picks. Soft cover is especially nice as it can fit easily in a back pack or large trouser pocket. Would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about or collecting butterflies. A perfect companion book to any out in-the-field enthusiast.

I have the 1951 edition. Half of the illustrations are in black and white which doesn't make it very practical to identify certain species or subspecies.

The species descriptions included in this field guide to Eastern butterflies are fairly extensive, and helpful. My only wish is that there were more color plates included in the guide.
