Rebecca Eash is just as spirited as her mother Ellie, who readers grew to love in Book 1 of Ellie’s People: An Amish Family Saga. Becky works for another Amish family and spends time with her Mennonite friend, Susan Miller. Her gentle days in the 1950s are filled with laundry and canning, barn-raisings, a taffy pull, and quilting bees. But as Susan’s brother, James, shows ...more

Meh. I don't know what originally drew me to this series. it's been on queue for ages. I think it is Christian YA. It is about an Amish family, but it is obviously written by a protestant who doesn't really respect the Amish and their communities. I don't know...maybe someone who left the Amish and is still processing it?

whatever it is, it was a nice fluff read, but not much substance.

The beginning was a little slow in my opinion and throughout the reading, I personally wanted it to just get to the point in each chapter. I love reading, observing, and watching the Amish and Mennonites in general, but this choice was just slow. I liked the conversion from Amish to Mennonite and how this reading was created based off a personal experience of the authors.

Read this today and enjoyed it much more than the first book. This is about Ellie's daughter Rebecca, who is an Amish girl who sees that even Amish people may not be living up to the best Christian standards. She doesn't understand why Mennonite Christians are looked down upon by the Amish, because the two she has been friends with have shown more love of Christ to her than some of the Amish she knows. She has a struggle between her upbringing and between doing what she believes is best

I loved this book... I thought Rebecca was so sweet natured, and caring... I WAS impressed that the author, did the twist where the guy joined the Amish church for her, considering that's not the way most books go.. Also how her parents accepted this man in and even after he left the Amish church , they offered him their farm...
truly A book that shows true love for marriage... I would recommend this book to anyone that loves Amish fiction/// ..

one of my favorites..

I read this book back when I was in the target age group and thoroughly loved this series. The Ellie's people series was a big part of my childhood and I am so happy to see that they are re-releasing them. The stories were well crafted and completely engaging. Hoping to re-read the series in the near future.

Interesting. I learned many differences between the Mennonites and the Amish. I had always thought they were virtually interchangeable, but I find I was wrong. Rebecca had some hard decisions to make as a result of her own growth in understanding those differences.

Part of a series about growing up Amish. Kind of dull, as you might imagine. But I appreciate this series. Very wholesome and well done.

Continuing series of Ellie's People. This author is not real polished, but she shares facts about the Amish I've not read before and I read a TON of Amish books.

Ellie's daughter Rebecca must make the choice of staying in the faith of her parents or falling in love with her Mennonite neighbor.
