This is the first extensive reprinting of comics stories by the celebrated American illustrator A.B. Frost (1851-1928), who in addition to his penwork and paintings was also a pioneer of the comic strip. This book collects the three albums of "sequential graphic stories" he published in his lifetime, and includes a variety of stories that highlight Frost's extraordinary skill at caricature and slapstick humor.

Arthur Burdett Frost was an early American illustrator, graphic artist and comics writer. He was also well known as a painter. Frost's work is well known for its dynamic representation of motion and sequence. Frost is considered one of the great illustrators in the "Golden Age of American Illustration". Frost illustrated over 90 books and produced hundreds of paintings; in addition to his work in illustrations, he is renowned for realistic hunting and shooting prints.

A nice look through the early history of what we now recognize as 'comics.'

Art is nice, but there isn't anything here to set this apart from all the similar books we've seen since its publication. Only important because it did it first.
