Interesting...

1. "Punishment usually accomplishes only one thing: It vents the anger of the person leveling it," (p 130). So where do parents go to vent after the kids leave home? Maybe they turn on each other?

2. "Physical discipline is never appropriate. It is disrespectful and teaches children that violence is an acceptable way for people to solve their problems...and teaches sneakiness," (p. 135).

Weird but I can see the truth in both of these statements. My children are too old to spank now. Weiss's enlightenment about parenting with ADD has really touched a nerve today.

Excellent introspection about how teens "feel" about medication too. This book was an eye-opener. Can't wait to read more of Dr. Weiss's work. How come I didn't come across her until now?
