This is not a bad commentary, but it's best for laypersons who want more than what they would get with the average study Bible, but don't want a true full-on commentary. It's verse by verse, so it's not bad, but it doesn't do application that a preacher would need, and it's not rigorous to the point of dealing with deeper issues. I wouldn't recommend it for preaching -- I didn't get much out of it for that purpose -- but for someone doing a Bible study to make sure they're on the right track? Sure.

Excellent! Exegetical, theological, with helpful pastoral applications and illustrations.
