In this much-needed resource, the author, a mother who holds a doctoral degree in autism spectrum disorders, shares the difficulties encountered by her son with Asperger Syndrome as he grew up. Rounded out by the perspectives of Brent, her adult son with AS, her husband and family members of others who have Asperger Syndrome, the book takes an important look at the truly unique issues facing adolescents and adults with Asperger Syndrome who have gone undiagnosed until late in life!
Gena Barnhill desires to see people find hope and enjoy all the Lord has for His children. This fiery passion led Gena and her husband, Press, to develop the prayer training manual, Simple Effective Prayer: A Model for Inner Healing. They have trained others nationally and internationally using this inner healing prayer model. Their greatest reward is seeing people set free from brokenness and walk into their God-given destiny.
Gena has worked in the helping professions for the past 45 years in various capacities including working as a pediatric registered nurse, counselor, Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and autism consultant. She earned her Ph.D. in 2000 and concluded her professional work as a university professor in special education. She has published over thirty-five articles on autism in peer-reviewed journals, authored several book chapters, and presented at hundreds of conferences on her research in the fields of autism and special education. Her passion has been and continues to be to help people overcome emotional barriers and realize their goals. Gena writes, speaks, and trains others in inner healing prayer.
