His name is Kedrigern. Wizard extraordiaire. Counterspell expert. Lazy homebody. And when he's asked to lecture at the annual wizard's convention, his lady friend Princess is delighted to get out of the house.
But tragedy strikes the Wizcon when a pair of drunken conjurers inadvertently turn Princess into a toad. Again. And since counterspells only work once, it's up to Kedrigern to go out and find a new solution.
So begins a most extraordinary quest. With strange companions at his side--and Death at his heels-- Kedrigern must cross a maelstrom of magic and a sudden detour into a dangerous future land call LA--or else his Princess will have to live on a diet of flies for the rest of her life!
Pay no attention to the cover; the characters and the horse bear no resemblance to the story, and Kedrigern is smooth shaven.
Kedrigern does not want to go anywhere, but the Princess, his wife, wants to leave the cottage. She had been a toad, but he fixed that. He ". . .was an easygoing man, even for a wizard. He disliked few things, and hated scarcely any at all. Chief among his antipathies were travel, urgent deadlines, and night work." They live on Silent Thunder Mountain. HA!
Abrazoul shows up, and soon, Bess with her drink, Ol' Fenny Snake. Presto, the Princess is a toad again. So Kedrigern goes to see Fraigus, who tells him he must go to Arlebar's castle, to retrieve a spell for the Princess. The Quest. So: Dragons, a Handsome Prince (toad), Lalloree (who won't stop singing), a huge 'afreet', Death himself, and several dismal kingdoms later (like the Dark Wood and the River of Misery), Kedrigern and his beautiful wife, who has gotten some translucent wings out of the bargain, are happily home in the cottage.

I loved the first Kedrigern novel, "A Voice for Princess", and am really looking forward to this one.
Je to roztomilé. Ne zrovna pohádkově, spíše z pohledu člověka, co toho má dost načteno a pozná různé narážky a má rád jemný humor. Fantasy zase trochu jinak.
Prijemna a usmevna oddychovka, ale kto ocakava nejaky literarny skvost a hodnotne dielo nech da radsej ruky prec aby nebol sklamany. Pribeh nenudi aj ked je zaver dost rozvlacne napisany. Idealne citanie do vlaku...
